Overview
Zircon is a nobleman who lives in Heliodor. His father manages racehorses in Gallopolis, and hopes for his son to take over one day, but Zircon's not quite cut out for hard work. Spoilt and entitled, Zircon goes through his life expecting to get what he wants, and playing dumb when things don't go his way. Despite his childish nature, due to his family's wealth and status, Zircon is the first man the Heliodorian advisors turn to when Queen Jade is deemed "unstable" and that "perhaps a marriage might calm her down enough to make rational decisions about her kingdom."
Upon meeting with Queen Jade to discuss marriage, Zircon seems aloof and immature, but this façade is incredibly articulated. Queen Jade's advisors ask him - against her wishes - to marry her for political purposes and he agrees, much to Jade's dismay. Zircon enjoys his new power as King, gets along swimmingly with the royal advisors, and ends up with the whole kingdom in his control.

Relationships
Since their very first meeting, back when Jade was a Princess, she had no interest in Zircon in the slightest. As a spouse, Zircon turns on Jade much like her own advisors have, claiming her decisions as Queen were poor and that she didn't really care about Heliodor's prosperity. Zircon sees Jade as an incredibly misguided ruler and attributes this to her "unconventional" upbringing (travelling the world with Rab and learning little of her future royal duties). Jade detests Zircon for his arrogance and for stripping her of her responsibilities, but Zircon doesn't understand how Jade can't just get used to him being around. Everyone else in his life who hasn't liked him for some reason or another has just given up at some point; why should Jade be any different? She'll calm down one day, surely, he tries to assure himself.
Zircon very quickly becomes popular among the Heliodorian Royal advisors, as their views align, and he speaks to them often.
As Zircon is a smooth talker, most of the other kingdoms tend to get along with him pretty well, but the kingdom of Dundrasil makes their distaste for the new King very clear. Serena & Eleven are very close to Jade and refuse to play nice to keep a good rapport with Heliodor. The rest of Jade's former companions are very similar; showing their support to Jade the best they can while essentially ignoring Zircon's attempts to get on their good sides.
