Overview
Misfit, misfit in trouble
Queen shit, queen shit level
Misfit, misfit in trouble
Misfit, get the fuck on my level
Rip is...a lot. Boisterous, bombastic, a pain in the ass on purpose, she's used to a life of being someone special and considered too much of an asset to break like a regular Initiate. She is spoiled, entitled, and arrogant, but underneath all of that is a genuine loyalty that sticks around until the sun burns out. Rip is ride or die for those she binds herself to, through the good and bad. Just...don't get mushy about it, that's cringe. Please feel free to tell her how great she is, though, she appreciates reminders.
Emotional intimacy, though? No, stop, get that away. Rip isn't the sort who enjoys identifying her emotions and diving into them, even if that process would greatly help her in many regards. Behavior recognition and identification is also off the table. She tells grandiose stories because she likes it, not because she has to constantly prop up her ego, don't read into it too deep. Don't psychoanalyze her, she will swat you for it. Flirt with her instead, at least if you're a pretty girl or close enough to it. That's far more fun and engaging!

Personality (Key: +positive, -Negative, *Neutral,^Hidden)
Driven +
Rip doesn't back down from any task once she's provided a goal to reach. Even if she has to limp up a rocky slope in the rain, she will. Even if she doesn't like you, she'll do it. There's no lack of motivation within her, that's for sure. Given the mysterious and odd challenges associated with mana and this new elemental magic, it may prove to be advantageous she doesn't know when to give up.
Arrogant -
When you're raised by rather ruthless cats and told that you're destined to be a powerful asset to battles and conquest in a new era, it's hard to not let it go to your head Rip thinks she's the best thing since sunlight. Her ego is immense and she has a terrible case of "I'm the main character" syndrome.
Fun-Loving +
Brash as she is, Rip is here for a good time. Nothing goes well when things are dull or tense and even if she doesn't enjoy someone's presence, she makes an attempt to make tasks fun. Given she's still a mere Initiate, this is a big boon to her being saddled with menial tasks or unsavory jobs.
Short-Tempered -
For a cat so big, Rip has a short, short fuse. The smallest slight against her can trigger her temper to flare and draw out a lash from her tongue, but blessedly her wrath does not last long. Nor is she too irritable or grumpy, but it's not the best choice to pick a fight with her, as she enjoys making a scene.
Adaptable +
Rip is adaptable, both physically and mentally/emotionally. She can slide into whatever persona is needed for a certain situation, though her true colors shine through at every point. A new system to get adjusted to? Easy, she'll roll with it! It's all just part of the adventure and a proper hero knows how to deal with curveballs.
Friendly +
Unless they actively try to take a swat at her (and even then in some cases), Rip is a friendly cat who tries to lay on her specific brand of charisma immediately. Her friendly demeanor is also very genuine; she truly just wants to hang out and be a bro with anyone who would be willing to humor her. She does her best to come off as relaxed and open in most scenarios, even if the rest of her is akin to sandpaper. You'd be hard pressed to drag forth genuine loathing from Rip.
Loyal +
A pain in the ass, Rip is still an incredibly devoted and loyal cat to both people and causes she puts herself behind. You can guarantee that she won't break her word if she makes a promise to you. Even Militias she bickers with she'd throw herself into a fire for. If asked to carry out hard choices, she grits her teeth and commits. Her faction and those she cares for come first above all. Including herself.
Flirtatious *
Rip is usually flirting with someone during her day, either for her own amusement or as a genuine attempt. She's not romantic-minded, focusing more on surface level desires and short flings, but that doesn't mean she won't spend a night sweet-talking a pretty molly about dating. Really, she enjoys it because she likes to see how others react to her. All attention is good attention.
Bereft ^
Flint was not really the greatest father figure in the world. Much as Rip loves and cares for him, he does not really return much of it, choosing to remain distant and handle her as a mostly neutral party. If you told Rip you loved her and you were proud of her, she might just start tearing up and be baffled at her own bodily reaction. She's missing a great deal of love and support, which leaves her feeling like something is missing most of the time.
Vulgar -
A childhood of stoic words and stern, distant fatherly supervision from Flint did not transfer any of those qualities to Rip. She's crude and crass at the best of times, often needing to be shushed by someone she respects so she doesn't say something filthy in front of young cats or her superiors. No one is spared from this either, though she can rein it in when required. Begrudgingly. Rip's vulgarity and her way of speaking overall are very intertwined, so being forced to not swear or make a dick joke usually means she stays silent entirely.
Conceited -
Vain and self-centered, Rip thinks very highly of herself and how she looks. You'll never be as pretty as she is, but she's more than glad to share tongues and groom you so you can take second place. Likewise, her heritage and accomplishments are stories worthy of being passed down for generations, obviously. Anyone who disagrees is objectively a moron and deserving of pity for what they refuse to accept as reality. She's insufferable sometimes.
Hedonistic -
Rip is motivated mainly by pleasure seeking. She's not a terribly complex cat in this regard. She likes good food, good nests, good ladies, good times. Sure, yes, okay, Flint saw something in her that had potential and she's let it get to her head, but can't a to-be supersoldier also get stoned on catnip on her break? Isn't it enough to chase your bliss? Maybe you have responsibilities but Rip is just fine partying like a bachelor. Even if it's self-destructive in some cases and sabotages her own goals.
Ambitious *
She was raised to be something greater than the cats around her and she intends to prove that as reality. Rip longs to be something and someone notable, to make her mark on the world, and she's willing to do a whole lot to get there (At least if she can still be self-indulgent). While not one who thinks of herself as taking her adoptive Father's position any time soon, she certainly has eyes for the rank of General in the future.

Story
Phoenix was born to a loving mother with 4 other littermates, though their names are something she scarcely can recall. Garuda readily comes to mind, her twin that resembled both her and her sire, if her mother's words were anything to trust. She never met him, the tom removed from her life before it even truly began. "His territory is at the base of the glacial mountain," she'd say, whenever Phoenix and Garuda pestered her, a fond smile on her muzzle. "When you're 4 moons old, we will travel to see him. I bet he's very excited to meet his little copies."
Simurgh would never know his twin daughters.
Feng would only manage to escape with 3 of her 5 children when the mountain started to burn.
Pooka, Ramidreju, and Alphyn were all she could scruff in time before that terrible cat came into view, and she told herself that 3 children kept alive were better than a dead family. She'd lost cubs before. She knew how to handle the aches in her heart.
Phoenix, hardly 2 moons old, dragged her sister out when the stone of the nesting den became too hot to stand. Garuda screeched about Mother abandoning them, nearly running headlong into flames before being grabbed and held back. Phoenix had been named for fire, which meant she could come out of this. She'd drag her twin out too, kicking and screaming.
Or she'd have liked to, at least.
Their paw-pads were burnt and ached as the pair tried to follow their mother's path off the glacial mountain, their lungs wheezed in the smoke-filled air, and Phoenix only could make out strange form growing closer in the flames and smog after Garuda collapsed.
His grip on her scruff was rough, unpracticed, so unlike her Mother's. His breath was hot, his claws were burning red, and he did not do anything for Garuda after prodding her for a few moments. A paw pressed on her chest that was lifted up. Phoenix expected her to get back up and snarl at him, but she didn't. All she did was lay on the ground. Dead.
At that point, she started to howl and shriek, thrashing in the jaws of this stranger as he walked away, yelling at him to go back, to take her too or leave them both behind. But he did not speak her tongue and wouldn't have heeded it anyways. Her time here was over and where he was taking her, she had no idea.
Militia Life (2-Present)
The cub soon learned to respond to the name "Rip" once she was brought to the top of the glacier, still fierce despite her paw burns and a long journey through a wildfire. There was another cat there when she arrived, older, taller, skinnier. More brown than the dark-furred tom but she didn't really learn much else until moons later, after Flint finally decided to buckle down on closing the language gap. For her first days, though, he gave her ice for her paws and warm prey to eat. He didn't cuddle like her mother, but she had a nest made for her and a warm shelter. When her rage died down, sometimes she crawled to his nest when he was asleep, taking comfort in the warmth of someone who had, at least, saved her.
She had to believe he was a good cat.
Hunting and fighting were the priority, but particularly the latter. Rip was a simple creature for the most part; Flint learned she could follow visual and non-verbal cues just as well as the bits of language she gathered from her life on the Glacier. Her build was her father's, large and bulky, and fighting came to her naturally. She was a prodigy, a perfect weapon.
And so he allowed her to become attached, as she was important for his future goals and strategies. Rip, or Phoenix, or whoever she was now, longed for a parental figure, and her mentor was as close as she'd find to such a thing in the Militia. Sometimes she'd joke about her name, saying she should've been named for the fire he saved her from, and he'd snort, and her chest would feel warm. Rip wanted more from the tom, but both he and Quill were greatly removed from her life in an intimate context. He's remained that way as she's grown up, though she's not stopped her efforts to try and gain his stern fatherly affection and approval.
Sometimes she misses her family, but a proper Soldier doesn't cry or yearn for the dead.
Helping to recruit other cats and forging friendships with her fellows in the Militia eased much of her aches and pains, alongside giving her ways to drown out what wouldn't go away. She's frustrated she's still stuck as an Initiate, huffing and puffing that she's going to be a Soldier any day now! Just you watch! She'll be the greatest damn Militia member you've ever seen!

Trivia
Rip is a massive fan of scary stories, she loves adrenaline in most all contexts
Rip didn't learn fluency in Catspeak until she was almost 7 moons, and so retained her grasp on Bobcat.
Her accent is vaguely Russian because I say so.
Big fan of water and swimming! Water doesn't put her off at all. She didn't feel a proper connection to it on an elemental level, though.
