Mallory is rude and will be mean to you to your face. He cuts right to the chase and says exactly what he thinks, always. He's become very disillusioned and wants to hide from the world instead of confront his problems or try to do something about the current state of doom. He frequently coughs up blood and is usually covered in bruises. He hoards typewriters and raises rabbits and chickens with his fiance.

Mallory spent the better part of his twenties as a useless frat boy who did nothing but drink beer and have one night stands to try and fill the void left in his heart after a tumultuous relationship. His risk-taking behaviors led to him contracting HIV and later tuberculosis, things he is very concerned will eventually kill him but if you ask him about why he looks so thin and sick he'll lie and tell you he has the flu. Sometimes his buried adventurous spirit comes out again, though, and he'll spend a night in the city doing god knows what before going home to write about it. At least Blanca can supervise him now.
