- before arriving to hell, he had been diagnosed with anxiety, and is thereby prone to panic attacks―those of which typically occur when he is presented with a confrontational situation.
- his personality follows two very opposite dynamics―one which is confident and flirtatious, and one that is shaky and easily intimidated. whereas the second is his true demeanor, the first becam part of him as a coping mechanism for trauma.
- they lost their right eye during their lifetime as a human, and keeps it covered at all times―unless deemed entirely necessary to remove the patch over it. more specifically, it was forcefully removed by a yakuza member, whom he had unknowingly stolen money from.
- given his participation in a reenactment of the “squid games” during his human life, he has grown to be extremely wary of those around him, and despises seeing his own reflection.
he had never been very lucky. born into a low-class family in an area filled with hoodlums and unrighteous yakuza, it was difficult for him to live a decent life, simply because he could not afford it. nonetheless, he provided his undivided attention to school and his assignments, aspiring to be a first-generation college. they got accepted to an art school based on their scholarships and their gpa, though they soon came to realize that they could not afford to pay off over $200,000 worth of debt. they were sent an invite to the “squid games” during their senior year of college, promised a method of paint off thir debts, given that they won the series of games. of course, they did not expect the drastic stakes of the games, and eventually passed away after losing one of the several games played. for participating in the games, as well as continually accepting debts they were aware could not be paid, they had been sent to hell for all eternity.
upon arriving to hell, he was initially quite bewildered―though, the lack of pressure building from unpaid debts eased him into almost feeling grateful to be where he was. now with dual personalities, his confident side would often be tempted to kill lesser demons, simply as method of misplaced anger, whereas his mellow side strays as far as possible from the mere thought.
shortly after his arrival, it was broadcast that a building known as the “happy hotel” was being formed. the thought of someday being permitted to heaven appealed to both personalities, albeit for contrasting purposes. he sent in a job application, soon afterwards bring hired at the hotel as a porter, to his delight.
he generally got along with his coworkers, though both sides of him found comfort in angel dust. for his primary personality, his sheer confidence was inspirational. similarly, his other personality found entertainment in occasionally assisting him with his films. eventually, the duo proposed becoming sworn brothers, complete with a full, stylistic ritual.
currently, he prioritizes his work, though he also helps angel in Amy way possible.
boss && enemy
squiggame harbors a grudge against valentino, due to his repeated sexual, psychological, and physical abuse of both him and the other workers. he initially became a sex worker under Valentino due to angel dust’s recommendation, though this was before the seemingly unavoidable abuse and trauma had been piled onto angel by him. during current time, valentino is likely the only demon mutually despised by both sides of squiggame.
coworker && sworn brother
when the duo first met, angel dust likely saw a part of himself in squiggame, leading to their quick friendship. soon after their bond was formed, the octopus demon became a co-worker of angel dust, primarily to spend more time with him. however, when the trauma and abuse began, it initially felt the need to abandon its duties, though it remained in order to ensure that angel would survive and overcome the hardships of the occupation. when angel decided to attempt with helping hazbin hotel, squiggame followed, and the two formed an oath to become sworn brothers upon their arrival.
friend?
the host personality of squiggame finds charlie quite endearing, whereas its opposing half finds her relatively bothersome. whilst one facet believes in the betterment of sinner demons, the other does not―which causes the occasional conflict amongst both themselves and charlie alike.
acquaintance
neither personality trusts alastor, given his reputation throughout hell. they feel as though he will likely help them build up the hotel, only to send their efforts skyrocketing downwards whenever he pleases.
