About

Dogged • Raging • Vindictive • Jealous

A deeply jealous, volatile virus, angelfire created herself in the computer of an occult hacker. Files filed with rituals, rites, and incantations can have a bit of a weird effect when stored alongside homemade computer worms. She escaped and spread easily, like viruses are want to do, going on to stalk internet forums and infect the computers of those with the absolute Privilege to walk the physical world, all in a bid to get just a taste of what those lucky humans get to feel everyday.

The one thing every devilspawn wants. The reason devilspawn choose to exist in the first place. To feel what it's like to have body, and wander the world.

And angel doesn't even get That.

Build

  • File Type: Trojan batch file, Earthworm-based
  • Size: 756,738 KB
  • File name: angl.bat (previously angl.btm)

Possessions

  • none.
"how could you call it thievery if you were born to lose from the start"
-hidden message from unknown writer, removed from later reprints. Dripfeed Magazine. 2000.

Programming

• The devil has no physical form. It is capable of manifesting itself outside of digital devices for a few minutes, taking the shape of a fiery, cat-sized earthworm. This manifestation is equipped with a pair of flaming wings that double for hands.

• This manifestation remains tethered to the device it escaped. Travelling further than a few feet will result in a disconnection and the devil will respawn within the confines of cyberspace in a blink.

• The manifestation may choose whether humans may witness it. It cannot hide itself from other devils.

• Passing one's hand through this manifestation will result in a warm and prickly static sensation. Long-term exposure will cause the limb to go numb. Sensations cease once physical contact ceases. The devil, otherwise, remains intangible and powerless outside of its digital-home.

• Within cyberspace, the devil disguises itself as seemingly innocent files, activating upon opening. These files can be anything from executables to images to text documents to mp3s. It is likewise capable of disguising its file size.

• The devil travels through wifi signals to infect compatable devices. If a device were to lose its connection while the devil was inhabiting it, the devil would by all means be trapped until the connection was regained.

Influence

• Upon executing angl.bat, angelfire enacts a sort of real-life ransomware. Unlucky souls who fall for the virus’ facade may find themselves trapped by real-world firewalls, or simply paralyzed from the shoulders down, until agreeing to the devil’s demands; handing over one’s identity.

• Agreeing to the devil’s demands allows the devil to wear the victims identity like a virtual skin around the web. Anyone meeting the devil while in disguise will believe the devil’s facade fully.

• Inversely, so long as the devil holds a death grip on their identity, others will only ever believe the victim to be a fraud.

• In some cases, the devil may simply bask in the love and attention and praise its victim once had, choosing to hold onto its new skin and better life for just a bit longer than once promised. A few years maybe.

• In many others, the devil will merely choose to ruin its victims reputation in glee, before unceremoniously returning the name it just took for a joyride around the web.

• Its choice in victims appears random. It takes what it can get, driven entirely out of envy for the human race.

• The devil is not patient and stalling for time will only incur the devil’s wrath, as it is not afraid to hurt and burn its victims to get what it wants.

• Because of its inherently illusory effects on the rest of the population, tracking angl.bat is proving a difficult task. However, those with a dormant angl.bat on their devices bare a newfound sense of hostility and pessimism when in said infected devices' presence.

NightCall

angelfire sees NightCall as a sworn enemy to the very end. NightCall is indifferent He's been known to tease angelfire, purposefully infuriate her. Yet with how much he irritates her, angelfire still regularly 'infects' his phone for unknown reasons. Perhaps NightCall's charisma isn't limited to humankind.

Data_Expunged

Like NightCall, angelfire regularly makes attempts at stirring the pot with Data_Expunged. The only issue? Data_Expunged is not afraid to make threats back, and Data's threats are very well backed. Despite her hostility, angelfire is very much wary of Data. She is simply driven to defend her 'territory' by nature.
