dragon | she/they | ascended

Based on the vibes of Aitsuki Nakuru’s 6th solo album, Transpain. It’s really good, please listen.

The one who does heaven’s dirty work. Despite being a deity herself, she is often tasked with infiltrating the palaces of other deities and… “cleaning them up,” as her customers like to put it. They move with delicate grace and precise efficiency as they carefully prune heaven’s magnificent branches.

Design

They’re like a white shadow, their clothes render them indistinguishable from the white walls of their workplace. The black accents keep her grounded in reality.

Her eyes are sharp and knowing—in a manipulative way rather than a wise one, though. She treads lightly and stands upright.

Important Notes
  • You can either draw their old design (featured above) or their newer one! Unless I specify, I don’t really care either way.
  • Their irises are black, their pupils are white.
  • They can be drawn with or without their cloak!
  • Underneath both her hair and her cloak is black! The hair is shown in her ref ^^ You can add starry patterns if you want, but you don’t have to.

The full moon’s shine…
Summary

Synchro is not her real name, just an alias. She wears a carefree expression in public, but anyone who has spent even a few minutes alone with her knows it’s a facade. Her sarcastic quips belie an incredibly cold personality, to the point where some think her sass isn’t sass at all—she’s being serious. She’s much kinder to those she likes, but she isn’t too fond of too many people. In any case, she’s safer in crowds.

The reason they do the work they do is because of a debt they owe, and blackmail surrounding that debt. If their secret were to get out, they’d likely be kicked out of heaven, so instead of accepting that they continue to stain their record with crimes against heaven. Except now, the crimes are endorsed by some of heaven’s higher ranking members.

They fight with a peculiar weapon that takes the form of a scythe. When not in use it looks more like a staff or spear of some kind, but when she fights a beam of white light shoots out and cuts through her enemies.

Work & Policy

She’s an assassin, and so her work is killing people. Specifically gods, actually, since she’s in heaven. Most of the work she does is for the wealthy deity that’s blackmailing her, but she does work outside of that as well. For work not tied to her blackmail, she has a few strict policies. One, the potential customer must provide concrete evidence of their target’s malpractice, or lack of morals, or general evil. It’s really up to Synchro to decide if their crimes are punishable by death… kind of scary! She uses the scales on her scythe to judge the target, but even so, who knows if that’s rigged somehow. Two, the customer must sign a very special contract with a bit of their blood. This contract makes it so the customer cannot lie about the target (or else they’ll die a painful death! Or at least get injured), which is important so that petty bias doesn’t get in the way. Third, she accepts payment upfront, before she even starts to collect info about the target. If the customer had any doubts about hiring an assassin, this is usually when those doubts are either dispelled (or when they change their mind). Maybe they think, “how do I know they won’t just take my money and run?” but Synchro is thinking the same thing, “I don’t trust you not to make me kill a god and then not pay me for it.” After a certain past incident, she has a reason to be so distrusting.

After the initial bargain is struck, they will go out and do a bit of research before taking out their target. This research can range from sneaking into the deity’s palace and watching them for a bit, disguising themself and secretly attending banquets they weren’t invited to, or asking networks of minor deities (mostly spies) all about this particular god. Oftentimes, it’s a mix of all three. She prefers to do her own research before asking other people, but she keeps up good relations with these networks of minor deities all the same.

Then after that, she kills the target, then meditates for like a day, the end.

Story

The reason she does assassin work is because of a particularly wealthy deity, the one who’s blackmailing her. This deity knew of Synchro’s… capabilities when it came to taking lives (she’s like, the divine explanation for why flowers will sometimes wilt even though you definitely watered them), and decided that instead of just killing her it would be best to use her for her talents! You know, it’s not like she really had a choice. The reason for the blackmail in the first place is tied to the demise of a certain art deity, one of the wealthy deity’s good friends. This god was apparently killed by Synchro, although it was supposedly an accident. The details are fuzzy on purpose, because the wealthy deity is obscuring them.

This deity is the only one exempt from Synchro’s terms. Most, if not all of the deities Synchro kills for her are political rivals, which goes against her rules a lot.

She does work outside of this too! She’s kind of… a freelance assassin, as gruesome as that sounds. She thinks of it as her way of upholding justice, although maybe the justice she’s upholding needs to be further inspected. She also kills her blackmailer’s political allies outside of her freelance assassin work, which makes most others very wary to associate at all with the wealthy deity. It’s all part of her plan, it seems.

Synchro/Nous

Synchro acts on her own, but in reality she is only one part of a whole. Her other half, called “Nous” by most, represents her opposite. While Synchro draws her power from the full moon, Nous draws hers from the new moon. They share the title of deity, but only one of them can represent that title in heaven at a time. Usually that representative is Synchro (thanks to a battle they won ages ago), but on the night of the new moon Nous’s power is boosted, and she likes to come up and make mischief.

Synchro hates Nous with a passion, but any injury Nous receives will be mirrored onto Synchro’s body. That means, if either of them dies, the other will die as well. Neither of them want to die though, and so for now they’re at a stalemate.

enemy

They used to be good friends, but that is no longer the case. Their hatred for each other runs deep! Synchro is the only one who calls Nous by her real name, but she does it out of complete disrespect.

former employer

Synchro used to be a minor deity under Fide, but she’s since left thanks to the blackmail. The two are still on good terms, although when they spend time together it’s kind of awkward.
