► GHIVEST

"Fear me!"

Appearance

Eyes: Dark-black, sharp eyes.
Skin: Tanned skin with a yellowish undertone. It's hard to miss the bright-red, angry, rough line and dotted markings from his self-flagellation along his torso, knuckles, and fingers.
Hair: Jet-black and long, Ghivest keeps a small bit of his hair up, while most hangs down past his chest. There are a few strands of jagged fringes that stay in his face.
Body type: Husky all over-- Ghivest has muscles everywhere. His horse-half body is strikingly similar to a Clydesdale horse, down to the markings and coloring. His upper half is wide, and he has a slight pouch, though it's all muscle.
Special notes for Ghivest's appearance: He has patchy facial hair, reaching along his sideburns and below his mouth.

Clothing, piercings: Ghivest should show some modesty, but as a wild man, he refuses to put on clothes.
As for piercings, he has none. His people didn't partake in piercing, and neither does he, now that he's alone.

Mannerisms: A rough, ill-tempered man, he attempts to exercise patience when around others if they prove their worth to him-- crossing his arms often, starting to yell and then stopping himself to sigh deeply, running his hands angrily across each other to reopen his 'calming' wounds... Sometimes, even when being patient, he is prone to lashing out and attempting to man-handle or punch people, even going so far as to bite.
If you do not seem worthy of his time, or look like a prime target to harass, he wont hesitate to stampede toward and over you. He's very kicky. lol

Personality

  • He is very rough around the edges and hard to tolerate. It doesn't help that he can't tolerate anyone, himself.
  • Ghivest seems to be selfish and careless with others. If you were to hurt yourself, it's not likely that he would help unless you were helping him in the first place. But then again, according to him, he doesn't need help from anyone. (This is a lie, but he's just used to being alone. Ignore him. lol)
  • He's not unstable, per se, but for some reason he only finds entertainment in fighting and conquering. Much like a untamed beast, he will attack unprovoked if you so much as look at him the wrong way.
  • He's not the smartest centaur, as he doesn't know how to read or write. In his opinion, all that matters is that he can just about kill anyone and anything if he really wanted to.
  • Very self-assured due to being alone and taking care of himself for decades.

History

  • This Centaur is notorious among others for being too wild. It's been said that his own people called him the 'Menace of the Plains'.
  • Many Centaurs live their life as so: they grow up in a (more or less) stable environment, work to get paid, spend their pay on living expenses and entertainment, and grow old. Ghivest, however, lives in the wild... Alone, traveling as far as he wants, when he wants.
  • Ghivest himself was considered a troubled colt, causing many problems among his people in his youth and adolescence. It was here that he was punished and forced to learn how to calm down, which, of course, backfired and only made him more frustrating to deal with.
  • When he was a young adult, his people could not tolerate him any longer. He had managed to seriously injure dozens of his own people by his coming-of-age, and instead of reforming him any further, they exiled him.
  • While he was free to roam along the areas his people had set up in, he was completely fine with isolating himself after traveling farther off (Oakkha's impossibly large lands afforded him this privilege without issue of ever running into his people again).
  • From this exile, he managed to travel very far, and once he had made it to a certain point, he had realized that his journey was much more satisfying than trying to find people he could understand and assimilate with. It was with this realization that he voluntarily kept outside and isolated, every day surviving with what various lands will give him.
He often runs into others of all species, and while most mind their business, others foolishly wonder and follow his movements, only to be murdered for their useless curiosity, never able to learn from their swift lesson.
  • There was one time that some humanoids attempted to capture him. It was a small group of five, all with various tools to help cull an unarmed Ghivest. Not only had the Centaur been eradicating an important species of prey, but he had ran off many travelers and merchants-- the people wanting to cull him had no choice.
Out of all the party, only one barely lived, fleeing, and told the tale of the vicious Centaur warlord to anyone who would hear this. That was many years ago-- it's because of Ghivest that most Centaurs have a shaky reputation with two-legged humanoids.

Abilities

Unique Abilities

  • Centaur Constitution: Unlike their humanoid halves, Centaurs seem to handle nature as easily as their horse halves.
They live for a very long time; the estimates ranging from 200 to 300 years.
Sickness is hard to come by.
Vision, hearing, and sense of smell is more heightened than the average human.
  • Centaur Strength: Centaurs are much larger and stronger than their human-halves seem to imply. Imagine the strength of a normal horse replacing the human half entirely-- Ghivest can carry three times his own weight.
  • Self-flagellation: Those red marks on his chest, torso and fingers are techniques taught to him by his people to help control his high-energy anger... It's self-flagellation in the form of 'hypnotic' treatment-- the time he has to spend on scratching/scarifying himself to high heavens is supposed to calm him by the end of it.
Except... At the point of his adulthood, he's gained such an immunity to it due to doing it so often. He can't help it now though, it's a habit.
Skillset

  • Weapons: Ghivest prefers fighting bare-armed and with his hooves, but regardless of his preference, he is competent with staves and polearms from left-behind weapons of unfortunate adventurers.

Trivia

  • He once fought a bear... And won.
  • For being somewhat 'savage' compared to the average Centaur, Ghive still speaks eloquently like he was taught (rarely uses contractions, if any, is confident in his word usage). That's about all he picked up from his people, though.
  • I know it doesn't seem like it, but I specifically made Ghivest just barely patient enough to handle interactions with others. LOL I welcome anyone willing to piss him off on a regular basis. He needs some love ;0
