The eldest son of a branch family in his clan, Satoru's peaceful childhood was abruptly shattered following the death of his mother, who had been on a dangerous mission with an adventuring party. Following the mishap, the family head decreed that Satoru's father be assigned the responsibility of overseeing an overseas mission with the intention of providing a distraction from the loss. A still-grieving Satoru was subsequently uprooted and transplanted in a foreign land along with his father, a close family friend, and his little sister. Traumatised by the sudden changes, Satoru decided to shut himself off from the rest of the world, refusing all interpersonal contact due to his unwillingness to integrate into an unfamiliar environment.

An excruciatingly shy and reclusive individual, Satoru rarely ventures too far from the safe confines of his room outside of work. Years of self-imposed solitude have led to him developing difficulties with expressing his emotions clearly, and as a result he often comes off as a distant, stoic figure to those meeting him for the first time. Nevertheless, beneath his unfriendly exterior Satoru is a romantic soul who gets flustered easily, with the alarming tendency to indulge in sentimental daydreams from time to time.

  • Has the expressiveness of a mouldy rock which has led to the other clerics' rapidly snowballing irrational fear of him.
  • Prefers to keep to himself, even going to the extent of sitting at a separate table during mealtimes.
  • Satoru is a disaster in the kitchen and often ends up making dishes that either "look okay but taste terrible" or "look horrendous but taste alright."
  • Is next in line to inherit the position of temple head although he is not particularly keen on assuming the role.
  • Can be somewhat of an affectionate sap who cries easily at anything and everything.

Makoto

Satoru and Makoto used to be close in childhood. Unfortunately, the family's move overseas shook Satoru up considerably and as a result the siblings gradually became enstranged over time after Satoru made the decision to shut his younger sister out of his life. Nevertheless, he cares deeply about Makoto's well-being and constantly tries to look out for her in his own inconspicuous way.

Godmother

Kuya

Having met them when he was dropped into a portal to another realm, Satoru considers Kuya the first friend he has successfully made in nearly a century. Being a lot younger than Kuya in years, Satoru holds a profound respect for Kuya's wisdom and expertise and continues to stay in touch with them through Sending. Satoru hopes to be able to show Kuya around his temple and its surrounding areas someday.

Vincent

As Vincent was the only person in the temple who always treated him kindly, Satoru thinks very fondly of Vincent and has become rather attached to him. Considering the fact that he had been born into his occupation Satoru also finds it admirable that Vincent chose this vocation out of his own free will. Despite being the unfortunate recipient of several scoldings, Satoru enjoys Vincent's company immensely and frequently skulks around him begging for attention.
