Owner of the Sander's Beach Hut at Bunny Cove and the father of Collin and Melody, Richard's a fun and cool dad to be around with. Of course, his immature acts of teasing makes Melody question who the adult is in the family. But despite the free spirited attitude, he's responsible of his duties and is always bustling around at the beach hut, tending to customers. Shop keeping, cooking, playing handyman, watersports guide, you name it- He's got it all covered.  

Collin, although he gets annoyed at the dad jokes, admires Richard a lot, and used to follow him around the beach hut to learn new things from him.
Melody finds him goofy and embarrassing at times, but still tolerates it because he is her dad, and she's trying her best to keep the family together after the loss of their mother. She isn't sure how well her dad is coping, but she knows for sure that he misses her dearly, despite the sunny attitude.

Richard loves his kids dearly, and is extremely supportive of their decisions. Although he wants one of his kids to take over the beach hut someday, he isn't against them chasing their own dreams, like Melody is with fashion designing.
