Copernicus does not think it's possible to hate a person more than he hates Smoothie. He despises him for a variety of reasons, but the sharing of his dead name definitely makes the top of the list. He has contemplated violent actions to get even before, but never successfully acted on them.
A burning requited hate. Smoothie has done a lot of dirty, vindictive moves to get even with Copernicus, most notably telling Archibald his dead/legal name. He regrets that, but still hates Copernicus with a passion, and he enjoys pushing his buttons and picking on him as much as possible
He hates him. At this point, he can't remember why he started hating him originally, but he just goes along with it. He attempted to murder him with his friends once.
Daniel feels a combination of fear and hatred for Copernicus. After being violently harassed by him and his friends, Daniel has no room in his heart for forgiveness. If he could go the rest of his life never interacting with Copernicus again, Daniel would be happy.
One of his worst cousins. He hates admitting it, but he's slightly intimidated by him...It doesn't help that, more often than once, Caribbean has given him a swirlie.
He regularly forgets they're related, but goes out of his way to pick on him when he DOES remember. Actually deeply cares for Copernicus, but he thinks it's funny to give him a hard time.
His awful, absent father.
After running away from home, Copernicus set out to track down Nicholas, only to realize what a gigantic asshole he was. He could not overlook the fact that Nicholas left him with his mother, when he knew how abusive she was. It also didn't help that Nicholas still didn't want anything to do with Copernicus as an adult.
Copernicus resents the fact that Nicholas was able to settle down and raise a kid and love that kid, but that kid couldn't be him.
Either out of his own guilt or as a show of good will, though, Nicholas gave Copernicus enough money to get situated in the city as well as the information to get in contact with his relatives. As much as he resents his father, Copernicus appreciates this greatly.
The two are out of contact, excluding the awkward conversation the two have at family reunions.
He isn't quite sure how to feel about him now. He spent years building up how he imagined his father to be, and then he turned out entirely different from what he expected. Though Copernicus hesitates to say it out loud, he still longs to form a meaningful connection with his father.
His long lost son that he forgot he had.
Nicholas feels some semblance of guilty for leaving him with his ex girlfriend, but that doesn't make up for the years of damage that were done. Once Copernicus resigns himself to not having a relationship with Nicholas due to those years of damage, Nicholas does not make an effort to reach out to Copernicus.
He puts Copernicus in contact with his family and gives him some money to start life in the city to help him out, but otherwise he doesn't care enough to try and help him out.
Nicholas often forgets Copernicus exists until he sees him at family reunions, and then he tries his damnedest to avoid him.
He thinks it's weird that Copernicus runs around with his husband's son, though...
Caelius easily takes the place as Copernicus' least favorite cousin. He didn't know it was possible for someone to be more manic, impulsive, and violent than he is, but they manage to pull it off. Copernicus also resents Caelius for showing up at his home uninvited and staying for weeks at a time, and ignoring him when he tries to kick them out.
Caelius was extremely happy to find out they had a cousin that was younger than them, and they show that excitement with random bursts of attention and affection towards Copernicus. They love visiting him, but they aren't so good at remembering to warn them that they'll be visiting.
Caelius is bad at taking hints, but even they can tell Copernicus doesn't like them. They can't seem to figure out why, though? Maybe it's because they just aren't good at first impressions, or maybe it's because they stabbed him once? Honestly, who can tell with these kinds of things.
Delmar has been Copernicus' bestest friend in the whole wide world for years! If he goes a day without seeing him, it is a wasted day. Luckily, there are not many days where he doesn't see Delmar, considering that the two also work together. He is glad to have met someone as chaotic, destructive, and manic as he is, who can also be understanding of his shortcomings.
He's a little intimidated by Delmar due to past interactions and is scared of being left behind by him, but he also trusts Delmar wholeheartedly. Copernicus has forgiven Delmar for any past disagreements and animosity, and he can only hope that he feels the same way. Thankfully, Copernicus has also outgrown (most of) the jealousy he felt regarding the extra attention Delmar gave Allan, most of which stemmed due to the fact that Copernicus had never had a best friend before Delmar.
Copernicus hopes/knows that the two of them will be best friends forever, and he likes it that way.
Copernicus is legitimately Delmar's favorite person in the whole wide world!! The two started off in a slightly rocky way and Delmar distrusted Copernicus at first (and he's sure the same is true on the other side as well), but they've grown closer than Delmar ever could have imagined! He sees Copernicus more as a brother than a friend, and would easily defend him with his life (if he had to).
Copernicus "Pernie-Poo" is the "funnest, nicest, greatest, prettiest, loveliest, PERFECTEST, bestest friend in the whole wide world!" according to Delmar directly, and he wouldn't trade him for ANYTHING. He feels extremely lucky to know Copernicus, and wants everyone to know it. ESPECIALLY Copernicus (which usually leads to a lot of "I LOVE YOU"s being screamed at random intervals).
Copernicus actively goes out of his way to terrorize Edmund with his friends. His animosity towards her stems almost entirely from the fact that she hangs out with Smoothie. He also resents how slow she is, as well as how open she is about her personal sex life. (As if he's any better?)
Oddly enough, with no one else around, the two have managed to have something like a civil conversation before. Obviously, this did not stick around, and Copernicus immediately went back to terrorizing her and her boyfriend.
Another one of Copernicus' many enemies. Despite having a volatile hatred of Archibald, though, Copernicus is also fairly frightened of him after being beat up by him once for attempted to murder his boyfriend.
Also, in spite of his disdain for Archibald, Copernicus has recently been making more of an effort to reach out to him and become something akin to...friends? acquaintances who don't want to murder each other? Copernicus does this almost entirely for his boyfriend's sake, since he is friends with Archibald. These attempts have had mixed results, but neither of them has killed the other one yet, so something must be working.
Copernicus actually had kind of a pessimistic outlook on the whole "love" thing before meeting Duobus, but it was love at first sight! Granted, first sight was while he was kidnapping him in a convoluted scheme to kill...someone? (He doesn't remember anymore.) So, their relationship had kind of a rocky beginning. Now, though, Copernicus feels 100% secure in their relationship, and he wouldn't have it any other way! He also appreciates that Duobus stands up for him whenever anyone happens to badmouth him, no matter how correct that person probably is.
Copernicus tries to avoid thinking about her as much as possible. She was abusive to him when he lived with her, and he ran away from home fairly young because of it. He hasn't spoken to her in years, and he doesn't plan on changing that any time soon.
Easily Copernicus' favorite cousin, by a landslide. Calypso was the one who helped him familiarize himself with the city when he first moved, and they helped him get on his feet. Also, most of his family members seem to be really zany and wacky, and it's a nice change of pace to meet someone he's related to that isn't as obnoxious as he is.
Copernicus is terrified of Fufu, making her one of the few people that genuinely intimidates him. Thankfully, though, the two rarely ever have to interact.
Also, they hooked up a few years ago for one reason or another, but Copernicus often forgets that ever happened.
