She considers herself lucky that her parents are divorced, which on one hand sounds a bit callous, but on the other, her mother had a meltdown when her 'son' announced her proper pronouns. They are still having a bit of a legal fight to allow the other siblings to move in with their father and sister. Having spent three years in Wonder's high school, her dad sent her to Crescent while they hashed it all out in Wonder.
To keep her mind off of that, Mica has dedicated herself to her studies at Carramba. Her senior year would be reasonably easy given half her classes were ones that she already knew by heart. She let others in the marching band convince her to join their Halloween antics. And, like Ken, she was pretty convinced that the trick or treating was far better in this mundane city than their magical home town. It would be her last proper Halloween, probably anyway... She was nearly 18, but then again, she'd matured into a pretty young woman and knew folks still dumped candy by the handful into bags for them. A touch cynical, sure, but...
Since she smelled lovely and looked like a treat already, she took to heart her favorite Halloween candy: Candy Corn! and with a little help from Kala's family they hooked her up with some gorgeous material. She was told that she'd be able to pull off the outfit even outside of Halloween, because... adorbs? As they finished up her outfit and put touches onto their own, Mica started to really enjoy it, spinning a little, giggling.
The trip to the boardwalk was positively wonderful, and no fewer than three passing guys (two of them from Carramba, and the third probably an older brother of one of them) offered to buy her a soda or throw a few baseballs to win stuffed toys. She politely declined, but was left with a broad smile on her full lips. They set up for their trip into town, and she was glad that her boots were made for walkin' because wow this place was so much more sprawling, and densely populated, than Wonder! Though it wasn't flat, it was certainly not the complicated maze of woodland and ponds, rock outcrops and oh-yeah-there's-a-town of Wonder...
May kept laughing her sheep-like giggle every time Mica would wave her over. They could do a whole performance thing for a line of kids while waiting for the 'best' houses to give out their goodies. The shifting magical tree-sheep girl produced leaves and even some blossoms from her hands and hair, and May had them sweep through the air over the little kids' heads, delighting them.
"This is going to be such a nice haul," Mica looked into her candy bag, it matched her skirt though it probably wouldn't fit as much as May's... And absolutely Mica was going to be deep-diving into that massive bag of candy if she ran out. "What a great way to end my trick or treating days..."
"Pff, you'll be able to cash in for treats for years Mica, stop kidding yourself," Kala chuckled, "by the time I'm graduated people will be handing me rolls of pennies and floor candy."
They laughed together at the thought - at least two of the stodgy neighbors in this area grumbled about all the kids coming in from everywhere how was he gonna cash in these pennies now? Although... Ken suggested that they all take closer looks at those coins, because given how ancient that stoat kin was, he might have given out collectables!
It was only a little after sunset, they took their first break.
