An immortal demon that ruled the flames lived in ancient ruins. In fear that the demon would burn the nearby village, they praised the demonand worshiped him to control the fire they used in their homes. No one dared to venture into the ruins and meet the demon himself, so they kept their distance with him.
The ritual to keep the demon's flames at bay started off as simple sacrifices: food, wine, gold; the demon always took what was offered. Unable to keep up the tradition due to lack of the village decided to sacrifice an orphaned boy. When the village checked the next day, the boy was gone and the flames were still calm.
No one realized how lonely and nice the demon really was, except for the boy.
Zenith met the boy, surprised and fearful at meeting a human for the first time, but he wanted to help the boy and let him go back to the village. But the boy was in pain, not allowed to go back and finding no reason to go back. Surprised but saddened by his story, Zenith empathized with the boy as he was also abandoned by the people he loved, and offered the boy to live with him. Overtime, the boy and Zenith learned about each other and their hopes and dreams, living off of the sacrifices from the village and the edges of their crops.
The boy learned that Zenith was indeed a demon, but he was also abandoned at a young age. He's mute and illiterate, only communicating by gestures and scrawled pictures and symbols, but he's very curious about the outside world. He's shy and can be easily scared by the unknown, but by being with a friend, he's excitedly learning about the world and life itself.
They lived and loved each other, no longer feeling alone in a world that abandoned them. But unfortunately, the boy grew up and became old, while Zenith remained the same. At the place where they first met, Zenith held his funeral and wept for the loss of his friend, but he is forever thankful for being able to learn about the world he was afraid to be in.
