Like all Paralogos, Monterey’s base anatomy resembles that of a Parasaurolophus. She has a rounded head and snout with a distinct, gentle curve that runs from the tip her nose to the end of her head crest. Her head crest resembles a shark’s dorsal fin, the three white lights on either side of her neck resemble gills, and three ovular lights are on each shoulder underneath the gill-shaped lights.

Most of her body is a gentle, muted blue with a sandy-colored underbelly. Her back and underside of her head crest are dark navy blue, as well as the webbing between her toes. Her claws on her feet are white, her eyebrows are dark navy blue, and she has pink eyes.

Her tail has seven segments (including the white tip). The first two base segments, fourth, and sixth segments are a dark navy blue, with ovular white lights on either side. The third and fifth segments resemble circular fish tanks with markings featuring sandy substrate and plants, and animated, interchanging freshwater species.

Monterey’s fin stretches from the tip of her head crest to the second segment on her tail. It has a gentle wave in it and features animated markings of saltwater fish, coral, and other aquatic life. Like her tail, these markings can change at any time.

She always wears a necklace of a pink shell on a black cord. It was a gift from her original caretaker, Chin-Hae.

• The aquarium markings on her tail and fin can be any species of aquatic life as long as the fin is always saltwater and the tail is always freshwater.
