Cecil's Links
From rival to a colleague which did bring one heck of a mess to figure out and unfinished score to settle, as he both wants to punch him but also not to cause any extra work he would need to deal with, unless it's to figure out who's the best. A sturdy personality to his fickle nature where as he's more of the social smooth talker than his silent intimidating " colleague " so in a really odd sort of way they kinda complete each other. He can find him a bit hard to figure out at times but he has to admit.. that this guy has gotten him out of a few sticky situations.
Markus has never really considered himself on good terms with Cecil from the beginning. Originally the two exclusively worked separate from each other, and did so for the longest while, with Markus especially trying to keep his distance to focus on what he was supposed to be doing rather than let himself get distracted. Regardless of his attempts to keep Cecil out of his business, the other detective seemed to take a liking to being overly competitive with him. Whenever they happened to run into each other, conversation wasn't much besides constant back-chatting and petty arguments, usually boiling down to who was the better detective. With Cecil sometimes pushing his luck trying to be funny by interfering with Markus' work, which he naturally never found to be humorous.
Ironically enough, eventually they both ended up being signed to the same cases more and more often. At first Markus considered this turn of events to be his absolute worst nightmare. Neither of the two wanted to get along. Markus still insisting that he worked better alone, continued trying to do things by himself. But much to his dismay, as the workload got heavier he knew that he'd have to force himself to get used to working with Cecil if they wanted to make any progress with investigation.
Markus still dislikes Cecil, although maybe admittedly not as much as he used to. He knows how sly, cunning, and self-centered he can be, but also likely doesn't really know about the true extent of Cecil's selfishness. On the off chance they both actually work together, things can turn out smoother than expected. Markus doesn't think he'll ever truly get along with him, since he likely doesn't feel that he wants to. Things could probably be a lot worse though, he tells himself.
