- grew up living in the Waterfront District, in a house much to small for the size of his family (him, his mother, his stepfather, and his 4 younger siblings)
- meets Hedgrod at the Frozen Hearth and immediately likes him
- as typical of many Bosmer, he is stealthy and good with a bow

- has had a fascination with magic since he was a boy, but struggles with Restoration. this struggle seems to be more of a mental block than an actual lack of magical ability, and only worsens over time as he stresses himself out about not being able to perform at the level he thinks he should be at
