Although being trained by professional assassins, Killua more often than not makes decisions based on his emotions over rationale -which is especially true when making decisions revolving around those closest to him. Due to his upbringing, Killua's personality has several expectations including thinking logically, repressing emotions, and being staunchly independent to one's self. Yet Killua is seen as a much more emotional character, really just longing to act like a kid and have a friend. Despite this, Killua is viewed as mature for his age in thinking and emotion, able to keep himself in check relatively easy.

His primary flaw relates to his fear of those more powerful than him, something he encounters consistently and eventually is able to overcome. Taught by his brother to remain cautious, Killua has dealt with the issue of fleeing from fights he feels he can't rationally win. While this may seem like a logical way to handle one's self, it greatly inhibits Killua's own self worth and downplays his own capabilities. 

Killua's contrasting personality with Gon gives him a new light on how to approach situations and has even opened him up to being more communicative with others and branch out to form more relationships. Through this, Killua does see some of himself in Tova, but struggles to handle her because he himself is still learning.

But while Gon and Killua do contrast, it's their fierce sense of loyalty and selflessness for those they care about that highlight their similarities. This is also a similarity shared between Killua and Tova although it takes the latter more time to fully accept and devote herself to someone to that level.

Tova and Killua also share an incredible ability to analyze and perceive those around them, complimenting each other's quick-thinking as they both share a very mature level of thinking, knowledge, and pragmatism.

The two also share an issue of not being as open as others, resulting in them both being embarrassed in regards to expressing genuine, honest feelings that may come easily for others such as Gon.

All in all, their relationship started very platonic, but it was a budding love and attraction for one another that furthered it into a romance.

The two enjoy playing strategic based games such as cards and chess, constantly getting a rise out of the other upon success as they both get competitive.

Tova is someone who suffers from a heightened superiority complex to mask her insecurities of not being good enough. Coming from a competitive culture, Tova's life felt driven by succeeding her parents and their overwhelming success in their fields. Feeling average amidst the rest of her fellow countrymen, Tova began to hold herself in an almost illogically high regard in order to compensate for what she feels she's lacking and to potentially convince herself that this superiority is true and justified. She feels overly confident in her capabilities and appearance, believing she's as good as they come. In truth, she does have a lot of what she prides herself in - a vast intelligence and a beautiful disposition - but it is her arrogance that ruins it.

Tova is also very manipulative and perceptive, preferring to use her silver tongue to weasel her way in and out of situations while also getting what she wants in the process. This was initially done strictly for survival, but her increasing success allowed a more frivolous and materialistic streak to form.

Despite these negative traits, Tova is genuinely a caring and loyal person to those who have impacted her. It's simply her view of relationships that prevents her from expressing these more humbled emotions. Once she realizes how important these relationships are and that it's alright to depend on others, Tova begins to have an easier time expressing a softer and more vulnerable side.

Her dishonesty may seem like it prevents relationships from forming, but when paired with someone like Killua who is able to suspect and defer, the trait becomes less of a problem than it may seem.

While Tova may come off as distant and cold, once she truly begins to open up and care for another, her true colors can be properly showcased. In regards to her relationship with Killua and it's slow development, Tova has a hard time verbally expressing or affirming her feelings or love. Thus she prefers a more physical but still subtle way of doing things, such as a touch of the fingers or a shoulder to shoulder press. It only gets more blatant as the two develop further and can better confirm each other's feelings for the other. In this case, Tova would be more privy to hand holding and a possible peck on the cheek in public. But in private, Tova is much closer in proximity, usually allowing Killua to rest his head in her lap or initiating a lingering embrace that could potentially lead to bouts of cuddling.
