When Sylvian was a young boy, he lost his parents when a civil war broke out in his country. His parents, who are retired fighters from the army, were killed trying to slow the enemy down from catching their son. Fortunately, Sylvian was able to escape to a neighboring country Luxidiem and live a quiet life there. Ever since his trauma of losing his parents, he vowed to never take part in any act of violence. He decides to become a doctor in order to help and protect people, especially those close to him. He doesn't want to relive the feeling of losing someone close. He moved to outside the city near the mountains in a Japanese-styled house, but still commutes to the city and work as a local doctor. On his off days from work, he either stays at home and reads his books, or go to nearby fields and mountain for herbal plants.

One night, he hears a loud crash behind his house and he went outside to check it out. He finds a heavily wounded girl, on the verge of dying, lying unconscious and he rushes her inside and starts treating her wound and ends up saving her from death. She stays unconscious for a few days while Sylvian is treating her and finds out that she's a noble of Luxidiem. He carries the sleeping girl to the city's palace so that she can get better medical care. A few days later, the same girl approaches Sylvian at his favorite cake store and they slowly got to know each other.
