Clown is a figment of Nina's imagination. Or at least, that's what she's lead to belive. He serves as a representation of Nina's intrusive anxious thoughts, he follows her around, appearing in strange situations, trying to confuse or scare her. Often times he is also seen juggling can openers. He's always wearing his clown suit with spades. He has been seen a few times appeaaring to people other than Nina though, which implies he's an entity existing beyond only Nina's imagination.
