When Oliver was 16, his brother, James, died due to an accident caused by Jason. In his grief, he fled his home, leaving his Eldest brother, Henry, to look after their father who had just begun to fall ill. He didn't know where else to turn, so he traveled to Dustin's home, a family friend. He knew her house was well-guarded and safe. He spent almost two years with her before deciding it was time to go home, but when he attempted to return he learned his father had very recently passed. Feeling guilty and unable to address it directly to Henry, he left again. Oliver spent a few more years with Dustin, learning survival skills and slight book education, before leaving on his own once he was around 21-22. He then spent most of his time traveling Gavel, before finding himself in Corkus and deciding to stay, learning electromagic.
