Apart from the fact that he's was raised by a single immigrant mother, to whom he continues to send money home to, Sammie keeps his background close to his chest. A native of New York, who was moved to the relatively quieter Girnwood for work - he was a blackcoat. His incredibly lackadaisical disposition and extreme affability made him the perfect mentor for new recruits, and he very well met his match when he was given the addled problem child Melanie Kibs to deal with. It took them years to develop anything approach mutual respect, but now Sammie has managed to secure a sort of older brother position in Mel's life - often annoying, but begrudgingly appreciated.

"Heart is in the right place" more or less describes Sammie to a T. A drunkard, a cheapskate, a chronic gambler most of all, he's not short on character flaws. But loyal and dependable also counts amongst his strengths - perhaps not dependable when it comes to returning money he's borrowed, but in most other cases he's a person you can count on having your back. His near inexhaustible supply of friends and amicable exes seem to always owe him a favour he can cash in on, on your behalf. Need a forklift? A 60GAL wine barrel?
