Profile

"Lost to time, but not lost to memories!"

This is Clyde!

He's what's known as a puffball, one of the many in an alternate dimension version of Dream Land that lies on a planet referred to only as "Popstar", where the events have differed from what truly happens in the Kirby series.

His "backstory" is... not all that helpful.

He was known as one of Kirby's sidekicks, but when the events of Planet Robobot happened and Star Dream was defeated, they were forcefully separated. Clyde was launched off into a rift in space, back onto Popstar. He didn't exactly understand what happened at the time or how he got there... but he never really paid attention. His main focus was trying to figure out where Kirby was. Wandering around was tiring, but he eventually reached a small town that sat alongside... King Dedede's castle. In perfect shape, actually. But... what is a town doing here? And isn't the castle supposed to be ruined, he thought?

It didn't take him too long to realize that this wasn't the Popstar he knew. Everything wasn't as normal-looking as it is now, and there weren't as many things that looked out-of-place. Eventually, it was obvious. Clyde was sitting in the wrong dimension the whole time. He was never meant to be part of the actual story of Dream Land. Instead, he was meant to be part of a dimension where Kirby didn't exist... but there were many others like Kirby! They called themselves "Star Warriors", or more simply, puffballs.

While he was set in confusion for a while, Clyde got used to his new surroundings. Ever since his arrival, he's been through a lot in his adventures. He met friends, learned all the abilities and created more advanced versions of them, faced numerous enemies and problems, handled the power of the "Star Rod", prevented Blaze from taking over the Topside, invented various weapons and gadgets... all while getting stronger. Too strong. Strong enough to the point where no one could really beat him because he would always come back at you with some Hyper Form or his overpowered sword. He grew to have no weaknesses. Clyde was literally invincible.

Until, one day, he just... disappeared. He wasn't seen for years on end. Some were wondering where he was, while others thought he left for something important. Some even thought he ditched everyone, thinking it was better without him around. He would occasionally pop back through to see how everyone was doing, but he never truly came back. He would always drift off just as fast as he came back. In reality, there was something going on in his head during the time he was gone, but he didn't know how to handle it or put it into words. He was stuck in his own mental prison for years and years on end.

And then... he came back.

He had finally gotten the power to tell everyone why he was gone. It wasn't the best explanation, but it was an explanation nonetheless. With how long it took him, though, he didn't want to go on any adventures anymore. All he wanted to do was sit around. It wasn't fun to him anymore because he had already done basically everything, and, over time, he gradually began to forget things and weaken. He only knows so many abilities now, and he can't use any of his special forms anymore. The only things he really has now are his memories.

The last thing he ever invented so far was a machine that would hold and preserve these memories of his past. He's basically somewhat separated from it now, but it allows him to visually look back at them all and remember it all. His old self. His old friends. The times they would hang out, and everything else in between. No words can describe the emotions he feels looking at them.

For a time, all Clyde did was drift around "Popstar"; he would rarely ever even be seen. For years on end, he would be stuck looking at his own memories over and over again, hoping for a time he knew would never return... until he learned to accept that the past is the past. You eventually need to learn to move on and realize that, sometimes, the past is what truly makes a person.

He may not be the same puffball he was before, but whatever lies next in his life, he'll be ready for!

Fun Facts

  • Clyde's new backstory is a complicated fusion of his old backstory, his "new-gen" backstory, and an allusion to a 7-year long journey on Amino (and how it ended).
  • Clyde used to own a pair of headphones. It was said that if they were removed, he would go insane and possibly die. Unfortunately, he lost them somehow, but none of those outcomes have happened since.
  • The star on Clyde's hat changes whenever he uses a different ability.
  • According to biological math that is now irrelevant, Clyde is 5 years old in his universe, which equated to "16 in human years." It's unknown what his real age is now.
  • The Star Rod that Clyde owns, the one of "Popstar's" Fountain of Dreams, is not as powerful as the Star Rod in Kirby's universe.
    • In fact, there are two of them on "Popstar": one on Topside, and one on Underside.
  • Clyde invented his own weapons—the "Hypernovalic" weapons—based off the Super Abilities from Return to Dream Land that were intended to be souped-up versions. These weapons had "closed" forms that made them compact, and while they still remain, they can no longer be opened. The weapons included (but are not limited to):
    • The Hypernovalic "Ultra Robot Sword", aka. the HURS, based on the Ultra Sword ability
    • The Hypernovalic "Crazy Grand Hammer", aka. the HCGM, based on the Grand Hammer ability
    • The Hypernovalic "Majestic Bandana Spear", aka. the HMBS, which is not based on an actual Super Ability and more likely based on Bandana Waddle Dee's weapon of choice.
  • Clyde was able to power himself up into 5 different forms: Super Form, Hyper Form, Ultra Form, Insane State, and ?????.
    • Alongside this, he was able to use various different powers in these forms, such as: fusion with other Star Warriors, increased attack and speed, total awareness of his surroundings, continuous counter-attacks, and even powers not native to his own world (like... Chaos Control? what the hell?).
    • Obviously, this was clearly out of hand. Which is why he's no longer able to do them.
  • Apparently, Clyde used to... have a theme song. I guess.
  • Regarding most of the info listed here, Clyde has made a profile of himself a fairly long time ago, containing a record of most of his skills and talents before time passed.
  • Despite not being in the Mintverse folder due to his role, Clyde is a "kirbsona".
    • He predates any other form of persona, which is why he bears no resemblance to, for example, someone as integral as Mint.
  • As of writing this fact (June 16th, 2023), Clyde has the longest backstory on this account as well as the most fun facts!
