Kahuna is a moderately sized starfish/dog hybrid that lives in a forested area in Angler's Cape, where he owns a tall ranger's station he converted into a house/radio shack. He smells horrible but because Angler's Cape is known for its pretty shady multi-story docks, nobody seems to mind the fish smell too much. Because his feet are mostly barnacles Kahuna waddles slowly around and makes a combination of clompy-splashy-ploppy sounding footsteps. He generally keeps to himself but is always willing to lend an ear if someone needs his help with a case.
Kahuna washed up on the shores of Angler's Cape in 2017. Nobody knows his past or reasoning for showing up in the town but he quickly gained notoriety as the radio host of the town's official radiostation, his hosting styles are... interesting to say the least and the interest in the show skyrocketed as rumors spread that the newcomer was hiding something... One day while on the job Kahuna got a strange call from an unknown source, prompting him to investigate a case that had been closed long before he arrived in the town, and the rest is history.
Although his smell isn't seen as a big deal in Angler's Cape, Kahuna could easily take someone out with his fishy stench
