Kei

Second protagonist of Orehiki's Reiwa arc, and second year at Kokusai High School.

Kei originally comes from the town of Mibu, not too far from Kanuma. Around the time the Kanuma schools started their merger, Kei started to get these occasional dreams with a strange man in them, who talked nostalgically of a place that once existed by the mountain called Koutai, which was north of where he lived. Kei, a naive kid who never experienced something like this, took this as a sign to visit the town by Mt. Koutai... Hirayama. There he'd find himself feeling lighter just stepping foot in the area, feeling like he was meant to be there. He'd soon be transferring there for his second year of high school, after some time convincing his parents to let him.

Kei is a bright and sincere kid, many of his neighbors would say he shines like the sun itself. He always enjoys bringing a smile to others' faces, and says it keeps him smiling too, like his own spiral of happiness. Even if he desires to make others happy, Kei's never been naive enough to discard his own wellbeing for it. His confidence in himself and the sincerity of his feelings makes him likeable by most anyone that meets him.

Unlike Eri, Kei loves the idea that life is full of surprises, and the ghostly friend he meets in his dreams is another one of life's surprises to him. Even if the time spent in Hirayama causes Kei to confront things that he had no idea about, that makes him feel a lot of intense emotions, both positive and negative.

Kei has an innate fear of fires, and has a strong belief in spirits and kami.
