Looking out
Lucy

"Everyone needs gentleness eventually, even if anger is justified in the moment."

name: Lucia Eleanor Circe
nickname: Lucy
age: 20+
gender: Genderfluid (She/He)
species: Human
orientation: Lesbian ; Greyaromantic
relationship status:It's complicated
occupation: Barista / Law school

Lucy is typically regarded by the people around her as a "restless worker", she's always keeping herself busy. Despite her ambitious, hardworking, perfectionist and occasionally uptight attitude, Lucy is always happy to have fun with loved ones, and usually takes on a caretaker role for most people that she meets. She's a cat-loving barista in school to be a lawyer, and is never seen out without her friends.

Personality

Lucy is hardworking, determined, self-assured and often straight to the point about things. She says things how they are and says them directly, often being quick to communicate things. She has good intention, though often says things that aren't particularly necessary. She is a very practical thinker and has great problem solving skills, though can sometimes get frustrated if she's not the one taking charge of situations. She's fiercely independent and does not take advice from other's well. She's a mom friend and gives advice that she tries to follow, though often fails. She'll always care for her friends and is always looking out for them, though can tire herself out from it. She's quite witty, usually having some sort or quip to toss into a conversation, and is often rather confident.

While she typically has a calm exterior, Lucy is a very anxious person at heart. She tend to overthink to a self-destructive degree, and can often come off as or be upright about things if they aren't perfect. She needs a concise plan and gets stressed out if she has to "wing-it". She likes order and structure, and keeps calendars, journals, and lists around to make sure she stays on track. She does not handle change very well, though if it comes, she'll simply do what it takes to power through it, often stressing herself out.

Lucy can be very spiteful if it comes down to the wire, though it takes a lot to get her to this point. When she's mad about something, she'll want to retaliate, though in the same right, hates fighting. She doesn't let anyone else tell her how she should be, and takes offense to a raised voice. She's very sensitive. Be careful. She's also not very expressive and can often come off as bored, standoffish, or uninterested. She is interested. She just sucks at expressing it .

  • She has a cat named "Paffuto", or "Chubbs" as a nickname.
  • Lucy doesn't get many movie references, as she often loses interest halfway through any movie.
  • She can play the piano, but often doesn't anymore.
  • She's not big on sweets, even down to preferring her coffee almost black, but loves cinnamon flavored things!
  • Her father was Italian and Greek, her mother was Argentenian and Italian, making her...Pretty Italian. Sorry, Lucy.
  • Lucia is pronounced "Loo-Chee-Ah".
Design Notes

  • Dark Academia vibes
  • Makeup optional
  • Hair can be up or down

Standing at 5'8 and weighing in at around 131 lbs, Lucy is rather lean-figured and a tad lanky with broad shoulders and long limbs. She has thick, wavy brunette hair that reaches just below her shoulders, and olive skin that's faintly painted with freckles. She has very noticeable heterochromia; A brown and a blue eye. Her features are fairly masculine, sporting a bigger nose, sharp jawline, dark eyebrows, big hands, and, of course, the broad shoulders that she has learned to appreciate with age. Her effeminate features are not outwardly prominent with her rectangular stature. She's typically well-dressed, and has rather good posture and hygiene. She's not great at dressing in vibrant colors, oreferring to dress in earthier tones like brown, sage green, white, and tans, usually sporting darker brown makeup and nail polish to match. Lucy has a set theme and typically sticks to it. She likes silver-colored jewelry to accessorize her clothes, often going for rings, necklaces and earrings.

Other features include two tattoos: One being black ink Gardenia flowers on her left shoulder covering a quarter of her back, and a small black ink violet flower on her sternum. She has two very important jewelry pieces; Her silver dog-tag necklace, and two golden rings, which she wears on any finger of each hand. As for expressions, Lucy isn't a terribly expressive person. She's got a nice (albeit crooked) smile, though that's typically the most expressive she gets. She can be very hard to read without intending to because of this. She often looks tired, if anything. The features that betray her the most in lack of expression tend to be her hands, you can learn to read her expressions through those if you know her well enough.

Backstory

Childhood-Teenhood

Lucy was both Lucia Eleanor Circe to Ila and Lorenzo Circe, the youngest of two children. Her father, Lorenzo, was the stricter parent of the two, often upholding more traditional and emotionally-distant methods of parenting that Ila never challenged much, leaving a mutually strained relationship between the family as a whole. They provided for her well, held her to certain expectations that made her more hardworking, and she never had to worry much about financial things, though her father never made much effort to allow her to express herself, nor did the two ever bond, and Ila was more submissive in her parenting. Lucy's sibling, Kiwi, left home the second they were old enough and cut ties with the entire family, so Lucy never held out much hope of being close to them, either. She never minded, as she had a good friend group to be her support system, namely Jess, who was her childhood best friend, and later Meredith once they reached secondary school. She also formed a connection with her Aunt Sienna, though she wasn't allowed to see her much, seeing as Sienna wasn't often invited to family gatherings. Lucy was also close with Jess' family, and considered his father an adult figure she could trust, as well. .

Lucy and Jess had always been very close, though Lucy fell into some conflicting feelings about the other girl around sophomore year of highschool, when she started having some troubles differing platonic love from romantic. Surprise! Lucy is gay and has a crush on her best friend. She keeps it to herself until the tail end of junior year out of the fear that she might ruin their friendship and furthermore get into trouble with her parents, though when she found out Jess was going to have to move across the world to Scotland for his father to work, the two admitted their feelings to one another, relieved that they were mutual.

Lucy and Jess dated the summer between Junior and Senior year, and to say it was magical would be a vast understatement to Lucy. The two adored eachother; They did everything together, and Lucy feel deeply in love with him. From sneaking out to see eachother to Jess' father being used to her being over and her helping him with family dinners, it was clear the two intended to have a future with the other. Lucy wanted to make things work long distance, hoping that they'd be able to call often, and that she could even save money from her job to pay him a visit once a year until they would be able to move somewhere together. She had it all planned out with him. For him. And when he moved, she was sure they'd be able to make it all work.

But...The calls didn't happen. The texts stopped coming. The distance felt absolutely and utterly heavier than she could have possibly imaged once she was in her senior year, and Lucy held out hope that he was just busy. She texted him when it was a good time in Scotland, tried goodnight and goodmornings and happy holidays, though was left with nothing but a cold, empty silence, even when she'd ask what she'd done. As prom night rolled around, she lamented not being able to spend it with Jess, and spent the entire night hoping for a text, a like, anything from him to tell her that maybe, just maybe she was pretty in her dress, or that he wished he could be there, but nothing ever came. After reaching out to his father to find out that everything was alright, Lucy broke. She decided to send one final text to Jess and break up with him, which felt like the start of a series of unfortunate events.

Lucy's parents weren't very supportive of the "genderfluid lesbian" thing, and were overall getting worse and worse in their ways, meaning Lorenzo was being harsh and Ila did nothing to stop it, so Lucy eventually snapped. At 17, Lucy bought her car off of her parents, packed it as tightly as she could, and left home for the very last time. She had some time until college started and lived with her aunt, moving into the dorms with her scholarship shortly after.

College

Sophomore year of College, Lucy, Meredith, and their other friend Dion were able to land an apartment together, and Lucy was working two jobs, getting therapy, and balancing studying for her law degree all at once. She was busy, but finally finding her place in the world, and moving on from the Jess fiasco and getting by without her parents, hoping to emancipate from her parents eventually, as well.

As the year passed, she had moved on from Jess, and met Gehenna. Lucy and Gehenna dated for a few months and got along well. She was an artist. Tall, beautiful, always knows what to say...Lucy was happy with Gehenna, though the two's relationship was on and off on the basis of the two wanting different things. They were girlfriends, then they omitted the label, then it became a "now and then" thing, though Gehenna always treated Lucy kindly, and they stayed friends after mutually agreeing that romantic attraction wasn't completely there. Lucy didn't like admitting that she wasn't fully over Jess, but she did what she had to in order to move on, even if it meant a few month to a year long on and off affair with Gehenna. The two cut things off entirely and stayed friends.

Regardless, she was getting by fine, with her job, and her degree, all was well...Though things got strange again when Meredith kissed her after Lucy helped patch up an injury. In an effort to move on from that, they went to a party, and who else would Lucy see but Jess back in America?

Lucy was pissed. How dare he show up again? Waltz back into her life like that after ghosting her for THREE years? Who did he think he was? Low and behold, she gave him a chance, and the two talked all night, and after drinking, Lucy innocently stayed at his dorm until morning. The two got closer over the course of a few days and she was charmed into a kiss which was later posted online, much to Meredith's dismay. The college was forced on a camp retreat, in which Lucy was asked by Meredith if she was dating Jess, and she didn't seem to have an answer outside of "I intend to", which ruffled some feathers on Cecil, Meredith's friend's end. Embarrassed, Lucy and Jess left the event and spent time together in the lake, later deciding to make things official again that night.

After a few weeks, Lucy was taken aback by jealousy on Meredith's part, and the two had some troubles seeing eye-to-eye. They'd fight, and eventually got over it after some time. Lucy and Jess never broke up after that.

Future

In the future, Lucy becomes a lawyer, and gets married to Jess. The two vacation often to Scotland to visit Jess' family, and she later rekindles with Ila after she divorces Lorenzo.

LLucy is happy that she got to know Jess, despite the years of hurt she'd felt put through by him. She's known him since they were children, how could she not? She had always known she'd always love Jess, even when they were apart. She's happy to be with him.

Mer Best friend

Like Jess, she has known Mer for years. Despite their history of her getting her friend out of trouble, she knows she can always trust Meredith, and despite their spats, she would do anything for her friend. She feels bad to this day for not being able to reciprocate her friends feelings, though knows it's nothing either of them can help.

Lucy cares deeply for Gehenna. The two always have the other's back, even if things didn't work out and they don't always talk. She admires Gehenna's talent, and is happy that she got to know her.

Ila Mother

Lucy resented Ila for a long time, admittedly, for her complacency in her father's actions. The two rekindled after a long while, though, and Lucy decided they could be on neutral terms.
