Jasper just wanted to be left alone; no adventures or mortals messing with his life in the spirit forest. But no spirit is safe when wannabe wizards roam about. He would now tag along a cheerful human who kept pushing him further and further out of his comfort zone. Liking it or not, he would be soon deprived of this forced bond of his... for better or for worse...? He now hides from the world, not knowing what to do with his new self.

About

Jasper claims to not have had a very satisfying life before he passed away. He doesn't remember what the struggles that burdened him were, but he knew the feeling of anger and distaste had persisted and was what fueled him to become a spirit in the mortal realm. He wasn't a "social butterfly", no... he never could have been. His only focus was on himself and his new life as a ghost. He had earned some abilities - as spirits often do - which made him want to pursue self-growth. Since he'd forgotten about who he used to be well, he might as well learn who he is now. It was mostly tricks of the light, shadows, creating the illusion of things that should be there, but weren't. Huh. Neat.

Jasper and Jayden - seeing the light

It isn't fun to see your freedom slip away right in front of your eyes. If only he was more aware of other people, he swears he could have avoided being captured by a wizard child in training.

Jayden was her name, and she was the exact opposite of what he was: bubbly, happy and oblivious. ...Maybe they were both oblivious. He fought and bit on the net he was caught up in like a feral cat. But no use. He'd have to put up with this girl's annoying positivity, going out on all sorts of "chores" like helping old ladies cross the street, walking in a city full of people and watching the sunset... He told himself he would do anything for Jayden to get out of his hair, as he groaned and followed her everywhere.

Oliver and Owen - wish granted

Jasper will never admit how much she had changed him. The sight of the sun wasn't so hurtful anymore. The Senate recognised their bond strengthening and appointed them a job at the local theatre's backstage's effects. He didn't mind, he grumbled about it and kept on his usual disinterested persona but on the inside he couldn't be happier. Jayden was telling him all about it with an unmatched sense of joy that couldn't be any more contagious. Perhaps he had even smiled. Before he could properly respond, his ears flickered; someone was nearby. And before he could do anything, Jayden had pushed him away and screamed for him to get away, she had to have an idea of what was coming... A wizard and his bond had just stabbed her in the chest. He stabbed her again and again but his eyes would not stop staring at Jasper with an emotion he couldn't even begin to describe.

He hates reliving that day, so he chooses not to. But he can't forgive himself for running away, seeing that look in her eyes. With her hairpin held close to his chest he fled like a coward... to lord knows where. During the following days, reports surfaced of a new murderer who targeted familiar bonds. He'd already claimed his first victim, Jayden Nullbery, and had begun movements in the city, killing the wizards and trapping the familiars. Jasper assumes he was the only one to escape their bloody plan. With her final words haunting him, he decided to keep it that way, finding a small unoccupied flat in Carnathis and staking it out in there. His bond with Jayden had grown so much, he'd started looking more and more human. He couldn't go back to the spirit forest again.

She'd changed him for good and she wasn't even there to see it. Damn it.

Trivia

  • Jasper likes to be left alone most of the time. The only company he could tolerate was Jayden's.
  • His opinions on the mortals are mixed. He'd hated them before, but Jayden has made him appreciate them. Then a mortal killed her... so he can't help but isolate himself yet again.
  • His magic deals with light manipulation and is powered by moonlight. He can make things appear or disappear, like optical illusions.
  • He likes his feral and furry form the most. But having to live in Carnathis has made him use his new humanoid looking form more often in order to blend in. Now he's visible to all kinds of mortals so he doesn't really have a choice.
  • His hair is wild and messy. As for the yellow highlights, he just thought it looked cool. He's kinda edgy unfortunately.
  • He dresses in yellow and black clothing with mooon and stars motifs... which is exactly opposite to Jayden's purple and white with sun motifs... After her death he's started including purple in his clothing. He couldn't help it.

Jayden [ broken familiar bond ]

Jasper was ambushed so easily by this-- by this kid it never stopped irking him. They were mismatched from the start: him an uncaring and hateful spirit and her a bright and beautiful ray of sunlight. They didn't mix well... or well, Jasper didn't want to admit that they did, in the end. She gave him a bigger appreciation of life... and then she died. What wouldn't Jasper do to see her again... there isn't a day that goes by where he doesn't think of her.

Oliver [ the murderer ]

He doesn't even know his name. But he knows that if he ever sees him again, that man is dead. If he hadn't crushed his world in that instant, perhaps he and Jayden could be living a peaceful life in Carnathis... he has nothing but hatred for this man, a murderous rage that is yet to be seen from him. Oliver should make sure never to join ways with the one that got away.

Owen [ the murder weapon ]

To give into his bond's vicious wishes... Jasper has no respect for this familiar, whoever he is. Instead of trying to escape, knowing the thoughts and plans of the wizard in charge, he's decided he'll aid his quest in killing innocent others and trapping spirits for whatever twisted reason. He despises him just as much as the murderer and plans never to forgive him.
