history

It is known that he is a relatively young elf from Bluina. He was born in Zirconia during the war. He was still a child when the tyrants and the Anguish of Decay were overthrown. It was revealed that at some point, he had met the Oracle. For most of his life, he was the town's medic and alchemist. One of his notable patients was the young boy named Oin, who has since followed in his footsteps to take his place while the older elf was gone.

Between the time that he left Zirconia and met the party, he stayed in Almandine with the blacksmith, Olsen (who made his mask), and his adopted daughter, Gaia.

Paddy accidentally revealed his name to a town guard, leading to the group learning that he had previously been run out of town and his office was burned down. He was thought to be dead. This was later confirmed by Oin's younger brother, Wailen.

So far, only Jericho has seen his face, and knows the secret he is hiding from others.

INTJ-A // True Neutral // Virgo // Demisexual + romantic

Gawain generally keeps to himself - he would much rather be working or reading than talking to people. He is not by any means shy, but simply introverted.

When he does manage to get talking, it is often a tangent on a subject that he is interested in, or an explanation that is much too long. If he’s particularly well-learned in the matter, someone might have to remind him that he is rambling before it turns into a full-blown lecture.

Going along with that, he occasionally has a hard time holding his tongue if he feels that someone else is misinformed in some way, or there is a chance to educate a person on a subject they don’t understand or know about. Or, if he wants to learn more about something, he is often too curious for his own good.

Although generally serious, he does have room for the occasional witty quip.

He believes that educating oneself and others is among the most important parts of life. The path to power and self-improvement is through knowledge. The goal of a life of study is the betterment of oneself.

He is much more stoic when it comes to the topic of injuries, sickness, and death. He does not sugarcoat things and won't bat an eye at even the worst of issues. He thinks of death as only a consequence of life - inevitable.

Gawain is purely reciprocal in nature. To those who are good and helpful to him, or have something beneficial to offer him, he will return the favor. Those who aren't, he is quickly dismissive towards. He is much less tolerant of rude people, and only gives charity if it seems to be for a genuine and dire reason to him. If someone poses a threat to him, and they need to be dispatched for his own sake, so be it.

Despite this, he has a lot of empathy for those that are sick, hurting, and less fortunate. It tugs at his heartstrings, and if someone is truly suffering then it is hard for him to turn away without harboring some kind of guilt, even if helping wouldn't necessarily benefit him in a direct way.

  • Most notable is his silver mask, metal features that are carved to be defined and realistic, displaying a neutral expression.
  • He wears quite a few layers of clothes, at all times. This usually consists of linen robes with a hood, adorned with a blue gem on the forehead. Underneath hood is a dark-colored, breathable coif that covers the rest of his head, chin, and neck.
  • His forearms and hands are bandaged up, and he is missing two fingers - his right pinky and left ring finger, specifically.
  • Robes, pants and heeled boots obscure his legs. A cloak flows behind him, and the outfit is finished with a large belt holding his item pouches and many potions.
  • One may be able to see his eyes if close enough, but otherwise, barely any skin is exposed.

Trivia

Voice Claim

➢ Enjoys glassblowing - making his own phials, flasks and beakers for his alchemy work.

➢ Has a particular fondness for Aroa the crow, the Angel of Destiny, with whom he has formed a wary bond with.

➢ After meditating each night, he likes to arise early in the morning before his party members are awake. He uses these extra four hours to eat and make potions for the day ahead, enjoying the privacy.

➢ His Homunculus Servant, a small spider named Mantis, delivers healing spells by biting the target, and injecting the liquid that makes up its abdomen directly into their veins. The bite, of course, immediately heals with the effects of the potion.

Polaris is... Definitely the most perplexing case in the group. I can tell they have gone through a lot in life, and more recent events have only made things worse. He is very secretive, as well as easily upset and withdrawn, but seems to cover it up with a flirtatious and cunning guise. Currently, I am making him a prosthetic leg, which will hopefully ease their loss.

Party Member

While he is strange and simple-minded, Moo really cares about his friends. I've come to my own conclusions about his past, which leads me to feel worried about his well-being. When triggered, his rage can be quite intimidating. I know he could easily snap me like a twig, but instead he is more concerned about whether or not I am eating enough... Perhaps more complex than he lets on.

Party Member

The dragonborn is very personable. He takes charge of the group most often, and I suppose if I had to declare a 'leader', it would be him. I suppose a little Southern charm goes a long way. While his past is a bit suspicious, I trust him... He's the only party member to have seen my face thus far. I know he'll allow me to show the rest of the group on my own terms.

We share many more similar interests than I initially would have thought. Often, during downtime, Paddy and I are roommates, which leads to us spending the most time together. While quite brash and rough around the edges to most others, I find her to be a good friend - someone to have an intelligent conversation with, listen, and sit together in comfortable silence. I am glad we understand each other.
