Gotou Ryojira

Personality

Gotou is a hard, brash man who looks threatening on the surface. One glance at him in the wrong way, and he’ll return it with a dirty look on his face and a bottle in his hand. Despite his samurai upbringing he has a lot of disregard for proper formalities, sleeping during group conversations and wandering off to do his own exploration if he deems things to be too boring. He was once a smart man, but all his excessive drinking has rotted his mind. The remnants of his intellect can be seen when he makes his battle strategies.

He is always ready to fight, particularly when his fiery anger gets the better of him. Those who know him better will know that Gotou can almost always be talked down from his rage, either through distracting him with words or plying him with one of his vices. An exception to this and a particular source of his ire are those who can use magic. He holds a strong deep-seated grudge towards sorcerers, wizards and the like.

Despite all his posturing he is honestly quite a soft man with certain folk, patching up strangers that he’s fought alongside, sharing drinks with those he’s fond with. If given the chance he’ll regale you with tales of his past valor and his love for the family he’s left behind. And if need be, he’ll protect his allies with his body. If you’ve wormed your way into this old samurai’s heart its likely that you’ll stay there for life.
