Calypso is mysterious, dignified and seems to follow his own set of rules. As he is clearly not associated with Celestia, many believe him to be a high ranking leader in the Rebellion but Calypso’s actions have said otherwise. He has stalled Celestia’s progress by preventing Celestian scouts and cartographers from successfully completing their missions but has also become somewhat of an obstacle for the Rebellion. Calypso’s identity lies beneath a dark blanket amongst the stars and his true intentions have yet to become clear…
02 — Personality
Underneath Calypso’s cold and arrogant facade lies a very considerate and thoughtful person. Most of the time, Calypso showcases his determination and resolves to show little emotion–especially around strangers. He does not do anything without meaning and tends to follow his heart when making decisions.
Calypso may have been impulsive in the past, but he truly believes that he made the right decision and is not the kind of person to hold on to his regrets. He loves watching human life and values the imperfections that make them what they are. Calypso believes that there must be some tie between celestial entities and humans. Why did any of them manifest into humanoid beings if that was not the case? Of course, Calypso knows he will never know for sure but he believes that the nuances of human life is what separates humans from celestial entities. Despite it being somewhat of a controversial opinion, Calypso also believes that celestial entities could learn a thing or two from humans.

03 — Background
The Beginning
Unbeknownst to most in Celestia, Calypso is the embodiment of the Orion constellation. He was originally an important member of Celestia and worked under Nova. When Calypso was born, he was given the job of “executioner”. He was told that it was his duty to destroy the souls of wicked people. It was brutal, but Calypso truly believed in Nova’s image and that he was doing what needed to be done.
Fateful Meeting
One day, Calypso was sent out on an offsite mission. This was uncommon and rarely ever happened but that did not phase Calypso. His instructions were vague, but he understood his role. Wherever he was meant to go, Calypso was meant to exterminate whatever he found. Once he reached the target, he recognized some of the people. They were a mix of the once diligent scouts of Celestia who had gone missing and a group of minor constellation embodiments Calypso did not recognize. After just a single week, Calypso’s whole world began to shift. He was beginning to piece things together and start making his own judgments. Calypso let the rebels go.
Fall from Grace
When he returned to Celestia, Calypso confronted Nova about the secrets that have been kept from him and all other members of Celestia. Nova did not offer an answer reasonable enough to satisfy Calypso and thus, he left. As a fallen star from Celestia, Calypso is now dedicated to challenging Nova’s actions. He doesn’t agree with Nova’s direction but also doesn’t agree with the Rebellion. Calypso keeps a close eye on the actions of Celestia and the Rebellion and steps in when he feels it is necessary.
04 — Trivia

He can materialize celestial energy into any kind of object or weapon. While he usually uses this skill to produce weaponry, he is also very adept at creating other useful and decorative objects.

After silently watching from a safe distance, Calypso started taking short trips to earth. He hid his ears and tail to blend in and just wandered the different settlements at different times. He tries not to talk to anyone but occasionally will find himself in a conversation with someone.

On one of his trips, he discovered how much he loved earth animals. He loves all kinds. Cute, scary, big, small, Calypso doesn't discriminate.

His name means "to cover", "to conceal", or "to hide". According to Etymologicum Magnum, his name also means "concealing the knowledge".
05 — Relationships
Rival
While they have only met a handful of times, Calypso is very aware of Atlas. They never met during Calypso’s short time as an executioner for Celestia as they were in such different departments. Since Calypso has broken off, he has noticed Atlas more and more. He believes that Atlas is sincere and genuine but Atlas’s unwavering loyalty is what keeps Calypso at a safe distance.

Calypso used to deeply respect Nova. He carried out his orders as Nova’s underling with no hesitation. However, after discovering Nova’s actions from behind the scenes, Calypso could no longer bring himself to follow him. Calypso still does not know exactly how he feels about Nova but he figures in due time, he will have his answer.
