Personality · · ·

Anstey is a stoic and rather brittle individual. That frown seems to be permanently carved into his face, and any amount of joy he feels makes him look constipated. Despite being intimidating and aloof, Anstey doesn't go looking for trouble. He's a withdrawn character that stays in his own business. Anyone who dares annoys him gets a cold shoulder and a few sharp jabs at their lack of intellect.

 Dedicated

Never gives up on what matters the most to him. Whether it be his job, his ideals, or on his family, Anstey will trudge through a flood if he's got a sound plan in mind.

 Stubborn

He holds fast to his ideals, thinking they are right above all else even if proven wrong. Old fears tend to grip Anstey, and they're hard to unlearn.

 Cordial

Always acts polite or even businesslike, just because it's the proper way to act.

 Private

Keeps his familial and intimate information to himself, often sneering at others who make implications about his family.

Backstory · · ·

Magic has been a permentant stain in his life. Ever since his mother left. Anstey had to watch his mother pack up and leave, throwing her life into her magical work while the rest of them picked bones. They barely got through tough times, though their father had the pay the price of stability with an overworked death. What hurt the most was that his mother never shared her magic with them, not even to her supposed favorite child.

Anstey took on the family business as his siblings left to their own pursuits. He attempted to proceed with the usual steps in life. Build a home. Keep up the business. Marry and have a family. However, life is not always a straight path, and his wife leaving him for a man she was already married to wasn't on his agenda.

Left with twins, Anstey had to take care of himself and keep his children from hating an overworked father. His only outlet was... a magician's show. Filled with folly and lies. Something he can scrutanize yet take his children to every once and a while. Talk to an all too pepper magician that drives him crazy.

In more ways than one. It takes a lot for Anstey to remember someone. To pick him off from the streets when his fame is no more, and to make a home for him. To care for him... as long as there's no magic left to get between them.

Current · · ·

His lonliness was about five years ago. Currently, after new routes were built into the town, Anstey saw more success and traffic to his funeral home. He works his business with dedication while still finding time to be witih his family.

Anstey's decision to include Cerulean in his life was rash, but he hasn't regretted it. If someone could love his children just as much as he does, then he knows he did not make a mistake.

Their life is quaint. Mundane. However, it's filled with a love that will stay.

husband
Cerulean Ashbourn

Anstey and his husband are quite an odd couple, like a briar patch surrounding dainty wildflowers. Despite their differences in demeanor, they seem to get along well with one another. Cerulean fills the man's heart to the brim, though Anstey would never say that out loud.

In the past, while Cerulean's carefree nature was foolish at best, Anstey couldn't help but admit his positivity was healing.

son
Micah

Micah is a hot-headed child, but his stubbornness for never giving up makes Anstey admire the child. Simply worries he'll hit his head too much.

daughter
Mairwen

Anstey doesn't know whether to be proud or terrified of his daughter's knack for mischief. Well, if she's able to use it intelligently...

daughter
Maeve Ashbourn

He's incredibly proud of how well-behaved Maeve is, and would give her the world at this point. Though he laments in knowing all of his children turn mischievous at some point....
