Disclaimer: The following bio has pretty hefty spoilers for Sorrow's personal story, Sorrowful Freedom. If you wish to learn these details normally, highly consider viewing it here.

General Information:

Real Name: Leena

Nickname: Sorrow

Age: 21 (Splat. 2 Age)

Gender: Female

Sexuality: Asexual, Aromantic

Species: Sanitized Inkling (+ Octoling DNA)

Main Bio:

Sorrow is a sanitised, one of the many unfortunate souls lost due to the circumstances of the Deepsea Metro, and yet, she still in some ways retains a glimmer of hope. Almost all of memories are all still in tact, though her emotional state is particularly fragile, not just as a result of her reaction to this, but also because of some elements of her biological changes effecting her personality. She has a very fierce and purely enraged side, but that is rarely as common as her incredibly soft, often crying side.

Sorrow is extremely and undeniably shy, stuttering a lot in basic speech even with those she's comfortable with, let alone those she isn't. She's also quite self conscious, extremely afraid of what others think of her now as her current sanitized self. However, getting past her shyness and struggles to communicate shows you her more true self, an extremely friendly and loveable girl who's been through a lot more than she should, and really could use some extra things or individuals to cuddle with (more than her found family and plushies can provide).

Lore Bio:

Formerly an inkling from Inkopolis known as Leena, she was a cousin of Roc and Rayana, the three forming a team with her and Rayana's close friend Tempest (Team Luminosity). Notably, she was also avidly curious of inkling history, resulting in her eventual curiousity towards octolings. The clues led her to set out on an intended to be brief trip to Octo Valley, hoping to discover them and know if they were truly as against living alongside inkling culture as they were thought to. Unfortunately, while she did discover a seemingly friendly octoling going by the name of Octane, the two were soon seperated and individually captured by sanitized octolings, with Leena suffering heavy wounds in the process.

While Octane seemed to get her individual chance in the Deepsea Metro as it seems, Leena was…not so lucky. She was immediately a high priority test subject to Commander Tartar, being the first of the inkling kind they'd gotten a hold of, and he believed she could make a powerful subject with the right processes. An entire month of vigorous experiments upon Leena began, from the partial to near full sanitization, to DNA injected into her from numerous other blended up subjects.

The results were as she became now, her exposure to much of the assorted DNA during her sanitisation resulted in her taking on a form much closer to that of an octoling, forming a sort of middle ground of attributes between the two (tentacles look like octoling ones, with inkling qualities for some of the suction cups, but there are still 6 tentacles just like an inkling instead of the octoling 4, and her eye outlines are a hybrid of inkling and octoling). Her body is also always very cold, as she is both in all essence undead and cold blooded, resulting in her sensitivity to even mild temperatures for her lack of heat.

However, due to numerous failed attempts to forcefully alter her personality to suit his liking, likely from the pain of the experiments nearly completely breaking her mind, Tartar concluded the experiments to be a failure, and placed the dramatically experimented Leena into a secure chamber, kept alive by the systems within it in case of future need for the failed subject. Left broken and forgotten, Leena remained there for a whole 6 months, trapped in solitude with only her own weakened mind.

A lot happened in those 6 months, but she remained unaware, distraught and completely unknown to almost everyone. Her discovery took CQ Cumber, main operating conductor of the Deepsea Metro's lines, investigating the unknown depths of the facility with Tartar now gone to find her, and she became released at long last. The fear and shock of being how she was didn’t pass over so quickly, nicknaming herself “Sorrow” from her personality shift. CQ took care of her a little back on the train, and shortly after the two discovered her lost inkbrush, the one so important to Sorrow due to the memories it held, figuratively and literally with the engraved message from her cousin Rayana still upon it.

Sorrow wasn’t exactly sure how much time she spent on the Metro next, but she did eventually come across two octolings searching the metro on the train, Celia and Erin. The two were siblings of Octane, which Sorrow immediately picked up on from their similarities with the octoling she met. It took all her courage to reach out to them to inform them of what she knew, and later they also took her back to the surface with them, knowing she was better off up there with them. CQ did give her a CQ-80 to stay in touch however, and the knowledge she could come back any time.

Shortly after, knowing Sorrow's conditions, Celia and Erin arranged a gift for her, her slightly oversized by accident, yet snug fitting turquoise coat. It was perfect, and helped her temperature unbelievably well.

Surrounding Info Bio:

Following the events of Sorrowful Freedom and her rescue from the Metro at the hands of those two unlikely Octolings Celia and Erin, she now lives alongside the two in their everyday lives. They’re the best found family she could ask for, treating her as an adoptive sibling and providing comfort to aid her whenever she needs it. She never thought she'd smile again, but it's hard not to when she's around them. Still, she has moments of remembering what happened, the fear and pain still creeping up from time to time, and knowing she'll have to find and reunite someday fills her with a lot of dread, unsure if her friends and family will accept the husk of a self she sees herself as now.

She nearly always wears her big turquoise coat at almost all times, yet she still always loves snuggling up with cozy blankets and other similar objects still. She gives particularly good hugs, as long as you can get over how tightly she would hold you just to feel your body's warmth. Sometimes ever so slightly too much if she doesn’t gauge her strength well.

She is very shy, she will often hide her hands deep in her gargantuan sleeves, and also will often cover up most of her face with the sleeves too, especially by holding them up drooping down in front. She stutters a lot of words, though the more comfortable she is with someone, the less she will stutter (ranging from every word to every couple of words).

On the rare occassions where she needs to fight (or chooses to partake in battles in Inkopolis now that she's on the surface), she uses her inkbrush, that same one that's so precious to her. She had to get a few repairs and natural maintenance to it, but the engraving will never fade as long as she's still around. Don't mess with her too much either! One of the few benefits to her sanitized self is her greater strength and speed. She's naturally extremely nimble, especially with her shorter size, and she swings that brush surprisingly hard! Though it is more common for her to rush off and drop bombs at her feet instead to get you away from her.
