Nox

Nox was originally part of a travelling circus, using their shapeshifting ability alongside acrobatic acts to dazzle crowds. They were particularly skilled at trapeze and contortionist work.

One of the main musicians of their troupe, a Leonin named Varris, began to take a liking to them before long. He was of the very few that Nox showed their true face, letting down the persona they favored at the time, a plain male human. Even to the crowds, they only ever showed a pale hand to prove their Changeling ancestry. To Varris, he gave him everything.

Varris trained them to play the Oud, a favorite instrument of his; before then, he had not thought much of music, but soon it became a passion. It was via these lessons that their relationship began. They were lovers from then on, stealing moment behind the curtains.

One late night, Varris woke them. He claimed a need to escape an unknown threat, one that had tracked him for many years, and finally found him once more. He gifted Nox his personal Oud, a kiss, and disappeared into the night. Nox stayed with the circus for some time longer, hoping Varris would return to find them, but he never did. He left the circus amicably, and shortly after took Varris' identity. They hope the people who chased him away, or worse yet, took him, would recognize him.

For a very long time, Nox played as others; it is the nature of the Changeling. As of recent, they have chosen to let themselves show their true form. No more masquerading as people of the past, stolen glances in crowds, acquaintance or tavern trists. He has chosen to take himself back from all those he has played, becoming one whole.
