Despite how well off the Hall family was, Emmett never felt like he was supposed to be there. Ever since he was a child, his parents never paid any attention to him nor were they home long enough for any sort of connection to develop. They would leave him with a black credit card that would refill itself every week, believing that was all a child needed to survive.

After hitting thirteen years old, he stopped receiving a nanny to look after him. He was left completely alone in his parent's large mansion with only a plastic card for comfort. This led to the start of his rebellious stages. He often got into fights, skipped classes, and partied until he was out cold. He had hoped this would bring some attention from his parents but all they did was lower the amount of money he was allowed to use per week. Having given up on that motive, he began drinking and starting fights for fun.

However, the situation escalated into something more dangerous. He started getting dragged into more severe crimes and before he knew it; he was given the option to join a criminal organization. This forced him to rethink his life decisions. Dropping everything and running away with some of his parent's money, he moved to Birmingham, bribed the university for admissions, and worked vigoriously for a well-paying job and a chance at a new life. Afterwards, he was hired to work as an undercover agent to liberate an unethical laboratory before becoming a full-time university professor.
