⚡ Kassidy ⚡

Kassidy is an Animaliaverse protagonist with a talent for lightning magic and interest in natural science. Having grown up in the desert city Alisonora, she is accustomed to managing high temperatures and low resources. She has a small stomach and needs to eat less often than others do, but enjoys lounging with junk food and eating dishes made with local ingredients. She draws energy from the sun, like many desert animals, and will become lethargic if lacking sunlight. Generally, even if in a sour mood, she is an extremely unassertive and logical individual who will not involve herself in needless disagreements. However, she often struggles with maintaining relationships due to introversion. Her general lack of practical experience can lead her to making naïve choices or observations. Despite these traits, however, she is neither unkind nor discouraged from connecting with others.

Because of her solitary nature, her personality works best with those who are overtly friendly and willing to repeatedly approach her. She is capable of forming strong relationships with people she has interests in common with, such as with her close friends, who are dear to her. She interacts with her fellow OCs, and is friends with many of her fellow reptilians, such as Sun and Saint. Her romantic interests have been individuals of all genders, as she is bisexual and genderqueer herself. In terms of image, she prefers to appear in an androgynous fashion.

While extremely passionate about her interests and opinions, she takes on a "follower" role in most situations, generally placing the well-being of life over duty or conflict. As a member of a desert conservation group, Kassidy is an environmentalist, and despises environmental injustice. Alongside an interest in biology, she also loves computer science and all types of media and art, tending to lean towards digital content such as digital artwork, video games, sci-fi media, and electronic music. Her electrokinesis abilities tie into these hobbies.

She was created with my avid love for dragons and lizards in mind, and to showcase design elements of the Sonoran Desert, where I was born and of which Kassidy's hometown is based on. Additionally, her talent for lightning magic reflects my bias towards the electricity element in fantasy media.

Kassidy's appearance is based on the zebra-tailed lizard, a small lizard found in the American Southwest and northwestern Mexico. Appropriately, she has many lizard-like traits, despite having the limb structure and stance of a dragon; such as her thin physique, brightly-colored stomach, soft skin, and her light and flexible tail. As a dragon, she can be depicted as a winged dragon or a wingless drake: it should be noted that she is unable to breathe fire in either form, however. In earlier versions of her character, she was able to change the color of her scales depending on her body temperature.

Kassidy is able to conjure electricity out of thin air, which is useful for general everyday application and for offensive attacks. However, due to the nature of electric currents, she cannot manipulate electricity in a way that is perfectly controlled, meaning that her ability can quickly become unpredictable and dangerous. Because the core of her magic stems from summoning, she is classified as a conjuration mage by The Mage Division's standards. This also means that her magic is limited to the extent of her health and stamina, and she is required to "charge" her abilities by resting. Being able to wield dense amounts of electricity, Kassidy's body functions as a conductor, meaning that she is completely shockproof; she also resists heat significantly, but is not immune to extremely high temperatures. She is also sensitive to loud noise.
