Desdemona

Desdemona is one of the master manipulators of her era. She is a dangerously charismatic leader, presenting her ideas in a way that can touch the hearts and minds of anyone who listens. Because of this, however, she is used to getting her way and dislikes being rejected or denied. While her ambition to rule The Wasp Kingdom is innocuous at first, she later begins to exhibit an almost god-like arrogance. Instead of succeeding the current Queen Mother in legal fashion, her self-righteousness causes her to become impatient and decide to resort to other means.

While not as quick to anger as her half-brother, Lysander, Desdemona is willing to do horrific, violent things that she believes other individuals won't. Her actions always have purpose, as misguided as they may be; for example, she arranges the murder of Katya Draganov in such a way that her death would allow her (Desdemona) to obtain all of her assets and influence and falsely "continue" her legacy. She holds contempt for pacifists like Katya, who she believes are below her.

Despite the fact that she often sees others as tools to be used for her benefit, Desdemona has loved ones that she avoids involving in her plans. She cares for her brother, appreciates her closest friends Alexey and Hersilia, and even learns to accept support from her troubled father Bertram, after open hesitation. She puts her full trust in these few individuals and expects it in return, which proves to be her undoing in the end.

Desdemona's dragon form is said to look similar to Entomos, one of the founders of Animalia and the God of insects. As one of the Insect Kingdoms' most well-known rulers, she is sometimes post-humorously described as one of his mortal personas. The truth behind this superstition is unknown.
