Sigmund Vernon (Sigmund’s Romance Issue)

In his past, Sigmund once dated a girl. This was probably in his high school years, maybe the latter half of it, so nearing graduation or college, something like that. Sigmund really loved her, and she was pretty sweet towards him. Sigmund can be a caring and considerate person towards the people he loves so this also applied to her. There were times when they had a great time with each other, and there were times where the girl claims to be busy so they couldn’t hang out. As time went on, the latter became gradually more frequent, but Sigmund was young and naive so he didn’t think much of it. (You could probably tell where this is heading… lol ;; )

One weekend Sigmund was out in town going to run a few errands, when he saw his girlfriend with another man, and she was happily by his side. Sigmund felt confused as he stared at them; he’s never seen the other guy before and he wondered who he was. Involuntarily he followed them at a close range, and they ended up going to the supermarket he was going to go to. As he did his own shopping he kept glancing at the other couple when he could. Suddenly he bumped into another male classmate, not someone he knew personally but he has seen him before. They exchanged their apologies and then the classmate started to move, but then he notices that girl with the other guy, and then he exclaims “why is my girlfriend with another guy?”. Sigmund looks at where the classmate is staring and frowned, and told the classmate that the girl was his own. The classmate didn’t believe him, so Sigmund took out a photo from his wallet of him and the girl, to which the classmate got a confused look, and then took out his own photo of himself and that girl. The two stared at each other, then towards where the girl is, who was already finished shopping with that other guy and was leaving the supermarket. The classmate said “let’s go follow her, this is weird”, so Sigmund followed him out.

The two of them watched the girl and the other guy from a distance. They started to talk about each of their relationships with that girl, and they found out that the time they say they both started to date her wasn’t that far off from each other; the classmate was asked out first, and Sigmund was a couple weeks later. The girl never wanted to show off her relationship with Sigmund at school, telling him he wanted to keep it secret, and when he told this to the classmate, the guy replied that she told him the same thing too. The classmate got mad, calling the girl a two timer and some other undesirable names, and although Sigmund wanted him to not say such things, he couldn’t find the will to speak up either. 

Suddenly the two heard a commotion and when they looked, they saw another guy was arguing with that girl and the guy with her. Sigmund and the classmate went for a closer look and to their surprise (or maybe a slight surprise idk), they recognized the arguing dude as yet another classmate. Turns out his was two timed by her as well, and this second classmate was livid, and was about to get physical, until classmate 1 and Sigmund jumped in to hold him back. The mad classmate tried to shake them off but classmate 1 says that they’re all in the same predicament. Classmate 2 didn’t believe him at first but as classmate 1 explains some more, he calms down but only just a little; for his fists were still clenched and his brows were still furrowed. During this though that girl appeared to be scared and clung to the other guy’s arm, then pulled on it and ran away, dragging that guy behind her. The three (now single) classmates all stared back in disbelief, then at each other .Classmate 2 broke the silence, asking if Sigmund and Classmate 1 would wanna get something to eat, and by the tone of his voice it would be better not to refuse. The three went to some diner and exchanged their experiences with that girl. 

When Sigmund went back to school on Monday, he noticed he didn’t see that girl anywhere all day, and then not for the whole week. He did see those other two classmates, who were all becoming closer acquainted with each other since they all shared that one misfortune. They both noticed that girl wasn’t in school as well. Eventually the three heard some gossip about that girl, and it was said that she ran off with her (real) boyfriend, and also she was probably carrying his baby. (s c a n d a l o u s)

Sigmund felt really betrayed and hurt, since his feelings for her at the time were genuine. Since then, he was really wary about love and about falling in love. He thinks that he shouldn’t commit himself to another person so he wouldn’t get hurt again. For the years after that incident, he’s remained single, but he’s taken on a vibe that was certainly really friendly, but also mysterious at the same time; people tend to like him but not know a lot about him even after meeting him a bunch of times and having multiple conversations. When Sigmund has to talk about himself sometimes he can get really vague, and he would brush off any mentions of romance really smoothly. He hasn’t told many people about that incident other than Vincent, and a few of his close friends he goes karaoke with. So when it comes to love and romance, he may appear to be cold hearted or reluctant about it, but it is only to protect himself.
