Profile

Overview

Kiba's only friend, prior to meeting Tsuki. He's an Aberrant as well, and aware of Kiba's secret. Along with being Kiba's only friend, Inu has also become a bit of a brother-figure in his life, and is rather protective of him.

They both live under the guardianship of the principal, and Inu isn't afraid to let the man know when he thinks he's stepped over the line where Kiba's concerned. (Perceived grievances mostly involve being too punishing or not treating the boy with enough humanity.) The relationship between the three of them is sometimes tense. With Kiba's situation necessitating more attention, Inu can't help but feel the other boy is being favored, despite knowing that the attention mostly comes in the form of scrutiny.

Inu is well-adjusted. He has his own small friend group, and even holds down a part-time job at an ice cream parlor in town. He keeps in contact with his biological family, and occasionally visits them.

Appearance

Personality and Behavior

He's an easygoing extrovert with a tendency to tease and brother those who make it into his circle of friends.

Smarter than he looks. After Dr. H and Suru, he's likely the most informed on matters related to Aberrants and the Veil. Unlike Dr. H, he has no problem sharing the information he has to offer.

He tries to do right and what he thinks is best for others. However, he's not always considerate of others' wants and feelings in the process, acting as if he knows better than them or even underestimating them. When danger arises, he acts such a way with Tsuki, attempting to turn her from danger and keep her from getting too involved, as she's only a small normal girl. Inu is often left to be the responsible, sensible one of the group, but at least he's not entirely alone.

Background

After Inu transformed for the first time, his mother had a hard time handling his special needs. Some time later, she came into contact with Dr. H, and agreed to leave Inu in her care.
The transition was rough and certainly left its mark, but so far, he's come out okay. He understands his mother's decision, especially not knowing how to care for or otherwise handle the new situation. She visits often, along with his little sister, and the three maintain a good relationship.

Having grown up in the care of Dr. H, Inu displays excellent control over his Aberrant form and powers.

There was an incident in elementary school, when Inu was still living with his family, where he transformed in front of his classmates. Dr. H's organization stepped in to suppress the incident, being the first time his family met Dr. H before Inu eventually ended up in her care.
After this incident, the one that led to him having to leave his family and home, Inu grew to hate his other form. He feared that others would abandon him if they knew, and he despised it, striving to be "normal."
He met Bijou not long after changing schools, and she quickly realized he was an Aberrant like her. Inu explains that if anyone finds out, he might have to change schools again, but she says it's okay, since they're both Aberrants. Bijou soon became his best friend, and the only person he felt truly comfortable showing his Aberrant form.
As they got older, and his friendly nature garnered him more and more "normal" friends, Inu set aside his other form, referring to transforming as "kid stuff," leaving it in the past, and continuing to strive for a "normal" life. While he could be accepted by another Aberrant like Bijou, he still believes that no normal human could truly accept his other form, and suffers in silence...

Aberrant and Abilities

Form
Inu's Aberrant form is classified as Kerberos, a multi-faced dog-shaped beast.
When he was younger, his Aberrant form and human form were of similar size, but the difference has grown as he's gotten older.

Hellfire
He has access to some fire abilities, seemingly "hellfire." This is indistinguishable from normal fire at this time, in all ways but their color: purple.

Heightened Senses
Particularly smell and hearing. This is typical for canid Aberrants.

ESP/Precognition/Scent of Death
Has latent "extrasensory perception," and can literally smell danger. The greater the danger, the stronger the smell, the strongest being the scent of certain death. It can be paralyzing, and keep him from approaching a situation altogether. The only thing that can override it at times is his protective instinct, knowing someone he loves is in danger.
While useful, he's not proud of his tendency to turn tail, and has been trying to train out his flight response, against Dr. H's advice.

Weaknesses
He's colorblind, and has overall poor eyesight, partially attributed to polycoria. Bright lights are blinding, and combined with his other heightened senses, he can suffer sensory overload. He hides it well, not for lack of trying.

Trivia (click to show)

  • "Inu," similar to "Kiba," is a fake name. Inu hasn't used his real name since starting his life in Arcane's Veil.
  • Inu has a condition known as polycoria, having multiple pupils per iris. This is an expression of his aberrance, his Aberrant form having many eyes. Inu wears specially-made contacts to mask this condition; they also double as filters, lessening the amount of light that reaches his eyes and minimizing any glare.
