Aurelie

In front of her human peers, Aurelie is often shy and soft-spoken. Although kind, she frequently feels overwhelmed in crowded places and dislikes human conversations. Away from the eyes of society however, Aurelie is an adventurer. She loves taking walks in nature, exploring forests and uncovering unknown pathways. She makes fast friends with animals, prefering their company over any human. Aurelie values the environment greatly, and will become greatly upset at the sight of pollution or anyone who partake in it.

One of Aurelie's favorite hobby is reading, as she loves learning new things. Because she grew up in an orphanage, the only place within the town that gave her peace was the library; and so she spent countless hours there, learning a variety of knowledge.

Aurelie was born with the special ability to see and feel spirits. She is able to talk to both nature spirits and the spirits of the deceased. This allowed her to become in tune with nature's needs and desires. It is unknown how she received this ability, as she was an orphan as long as she could remember and her birth family is a mystery to her.

"A chance encounter"

Aurelie has never felt like she fit in with the other kids, after all, what kid can see the dead like she can? It was not only the dead either, the trees, the water, everything had spirits; they spoke and she listened, a good portion of her childhood spent in the forest near the village, where human and nature spirits alike indulged her with all sorts of tales of past adventures.

One day, the forest called out, a strange sobbing echoed throughout the woods; the cry was an ethereal sound, both human and unhuman. This confused Aurelie, was the forest not forbidden ground? a place where the rumored god/monster dwelled? This aspect frightened Aurelie, but she was not one to back down from an adventure.

Following the strange sound, she came across a meadow. Surrounded by animals--and more wolves than she had seen in her lifetime, was a woman--a strange looking but beautiful fey creature, with vivid butterfly wings and long swirling hair. She was kneeling beside a wounded wolf--possibly injured with a bear trap? As the wolf's breath strained, the woman cradled its bleeding body; a bright light engulfed them both--previously visible to Aurelie only, before it disappeared, and the wolf was gone.

It took a moment for the strange fairy to notice Aurelie. The animals responded, a lone wolf dashed to strike her, but was stopped by the fairy's gentle hand.

"She is not the one that harmed your brethren..." a quiet voice echoed.

Aurelie, who was prepared run, stopped at the sound of her voice. "Um.. hi... I wasn't going to do anything..."

"I know, your heart knows no darkness." The fairy calmly replied. "Tell me... what is your name?"

"Aurelie, just... Aurelie..." Aurelie knows she's being reckless, she should be running away right now, somewhere far away where this strange creature cannot reach her. But she doesn't, the fairy's presence is warm, tranquil, and... familiar?

"My name is Vivianne, and I guard this forest." Vivianne smiled, holding out her hand in greeting. Aurelie crossed the distance quickly, receiving her hand. Perhaps, she doesn't have to feel lonely after all...

This was the first of their many meetings.
