Male | Kirin

Short story: Found as a young kirin by Loraphine, and ended up becoming her guardian. Since then he's essentially just existed as her guardian. 

Longer story: Loraphine found a kirin, decided it was pretty, and wanted to keep it. So she decided that kirin was her's now. She brought it to Nouriel, who was in the library at the time, and asked him to name the kirin. Nouriel grabbed a book, pointed at a name, and thus Kalan got his name. Then they realized that the only way Asternyse would let Loraphine keep a kirin, was if the kirin was bonded to her. Thus, the two engaged in some random ritual Nouriel found in a book, through which Kalin became Loraphine's guardian. 

Strangely, despite being mostly raised by Loraphine, Kalan is a very quiet creature. He generally responds in as few words as possible, and his favorite spot to be, when not actively guarding Loraphine or doing what she asks, is the library.
