- 慎小莲 (cautious heart / little / lotus flower)

- She was born into a family of peaceful qilins who practiced medicine in a small mountain village
- Her family was killed and she was captured and sold off to some rich weirdo who believed her blood is magic (it's not) and would give him immortality (it doesn't); he later died in an accident
- She was saved by a Marcella and Giuseppe, a married couple of thieves, who had broken into the house; they took her in and taught her all their sneaky tips and tricks
- In a robbery gone wrong, Giuseppe died of his injuries and Marcella fell into a deep depression before dying of illness; Lian feels responsible for both of their deaths due to not being able to heal them
- She made a deal with an angel (spoiler: she's not)--she no longer wanted to suffer from loss and Sera monkey pawed her :)
- She spends her days trekking around in her 16-year-old form to scam and con people because who would suspect a cute little girl!!

She stole an important pendant from him and now they are the BEST OF FRIENDS. He's definitely not annoyed with her childish antics at all. He's absolutely not against her pickpocketing and general suspiciousnessness either!

She came to Lian during her time of need and granted her wishes. Lian doesn't think much of Sera or the deals they made because life has been pretty ok, so whatever, right?
"Are you there? Please, make it stop. I can't do this anymore."
Marcella & Giuseppe [ mentors ]
They rescued her from her cage, rehabilitated her, and showed her the world. She loved them so much. So much so that losing them pushed her over the edge--and now their faces are just a smudge in her mind.
"I learned everything from you two! Of course I'm good!"

She vaguely remembers shy moments with a boy whose face she can't recall. There's the sound of a bell.
