Background

Hana was born in Sunagakure but moved with her family to Konohagakure as part of a deal between the two villages when she was still a toddler. During her childhood she'd visit her home a lot, partly because of her family's rituals located in the sacred shrines, but also to attend its medical school that is specialized on the Clan's Kekkei Genkai.

The separation of the Clan's branches caused a toll on Hana and her family, although her parents always tried to pretend it didn't affect them. Travelling back and forth between the two villages, which was necessary, was very exhausting and she'd never feel at home or belong to the two villages. Being the oldest and therefore heir to the Ogino Clan added even more pressure to her as a child and adolescent. Her duties as an heir and vessel of the ghost of the Sō (僧) who originally founded the Clan were and still are very important and must not be declined. This would always felt like a huge burden to her, however, she was always accepting her fate and tried to embrace it.

Unfortunately all of this made her an easy target for bullying by other children. They especially liked to nag her for her flaming red hair which ruined her self-esteem for many years. In response to that Hana developed a jutsu to mask her true hair-colour and eventually got rid of the bullying. It made it easier for her to “forget” who she really was but it became incredibly difficult to stop this habit of masking once the bullying ended. Only after regaining her self-esteem and self-love through the efforts of her close ones and her partner, Momiji, Hana started to accept herself again.

Personality ⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅⋅

Hana's a very honest, witty and caring person, but can be over-earnest and thick-headed at times. Setbacks, such as the loss of a patient, are hitting her notably hard. It's difficult for her to deal with her feelings or overwhelming life-situations, making her cope by drinking alcohol. She tries to deny her alcohol abuse, but deep down she's struggling with it and wishes to be able to address it. Ironically she's quite skilled at comforting others and giving great advices. Despite her problems and weight she carries, Hana's a well-versed and empathetic leader — a skill which comes in handy at her job and duties that she bears.
