There was once a little half-elf with the brightest spirit to ever burn. Her name was Lillian, and she brought many smiles upon people’s faces, determined to do good in the world despite the wrong. However, one day, she fell deeply ill and had to be carried off to a hospital. The news of her illness spread like wildfire and struck the entire town. It was an illness unheard of, and people became increasingly worried. Doctors worked their hardest to ensure she would survive, by trying to find a cure or something to help Lillian’s body fight the infection off.

Thanks to their efforts, they were successful in doing so despite people calling it a miracle from the gods. While Lillian was recovering, many of her school friends would bring gifts and encouragement. One, in particular, stuck out to the half-elf like a rose among dandelions. It was a porcelain doll pink and pretty as can be! Although, the bestower was unknown which prompted Lillian the idea that it was from a secret admirer. Nonetheless, this doll became a precious treasure of hers that sat by her day and night. Reading, writing, and watching plays together for years to come.

A Witch

As Lillian had grown into a young woman, her spirit and ideals never faltered. She upheld her determination by attending college, working to become a talented witch that helps others through magic and elixirs. Much like how the doctors had tried everything to cure her illness at the hospital. She was able to work through countless hours of college, graduating as a real witch. It was time to contribute her skills to the rest of the world. However, something came to her attention, what’s a witch without assistance? No matter how talented she was, she couldn’t do it all alone.

Therefore, she studied countless spells and came up with an idea seemingly impossible at first: to animate and bring sentience to her precious treasures. It took another few years of research, trials, and error, but ultimately, she came to animate what was inanimate. From little paper dolls to plushies, it was a success! Now it was time for the final trial: Clementine.

To her surprise, it was a first try success! Clementine was no longer small in size, but actually human sized. Lillian was ecstatic, and soon after she began to teach Clementine everything she knew. Her ideals, beliefs, and what’s to love about the world around them. Most importantly, she taught them how to bring many smiles upon people’s faces, and how to do good in the world despite the wrong. The living doll carried on these beliefs and teachings, working alongside the witch henceforth. Both of them traveled to different continents and aided those in need using their magical knowledge.

A Journey

However, as Lillian grew older and wiser, she began to realize that Clementine should start to think about themselves. So, she suggested that her friend should go out on an independent journey and find their own identity. Giving out ideas to start, like aiming to become a doctor! While it was confusing for Clementine at first, they eventually agreed to her suggestion. After all, they didn’t want to turn down their dearest friend even if they didn’t want to leave their side. At the very least, they had a home to come back to when their self-journey is over.

The living doll has begun to forge their own identity to this day, like changing their name to Clement and being referred to as a boy. Although, they haven’t grasped the reality of the world not being all rainbows and glitter. After all, not all the smiles they encounter would have the same love for humanity.
