Poppy McAllister, more commonly known as 'Pepper' or '(Courier) 6' originates from Boston, originally working as a maintenance man for a research team working for a failed cure for FEV (Forced Evolutionary Virus).
Due to the dangerous environment, researchers disappeared one by one during scouting missions for research material and notes for monitoring the activity of Super Mutants and soon Pepper was forced to leave the now empty facility. He ended up traveling to Nevada through a caravan passing by and started working for Mojave Express, leading to current circumstances.
