Kara Murakita (村北 架羅, Murakita Kara) is a character in the Shōjo☆Kageki Revue Starlight franchise, original to Turn Away. She is a second-year student from the Actor Training Department at Seisho Music Academy's102nd Graduating Class. She plays Persephone in the Performance Festival production of Hadestown.

Though she pursued theater for most of her childhood, she found herself quickly falling behind after enrolling at Seisho Music Academy, outclassed by the efforts of the other students. Unprepared for the dedication required, she is struggling to keep her place among her classmates.

Introduction

"A heartless spotlight beams upon a half-remembered stage, yet seeks a brilliance long since buried. I am the echo of my very own star!
Seisho's 102nd class — Murakita Kara! I will fight to find my own light!"

Appearance

Kara has fair, freckled skin, shoulder-length chestnut hair, and orangish eyes. Kara typically wears her hair in two short ponytails. Her bangs are kept short but are usually left in a loose cluster on her forehead.

Her Seisho uniform consists of a gray blazer with dark-gray trimming and a gray knife-pleated skirt, a white button-up shirt, a red ribbon tie, and brown loafers, which she wears with black thigh-high socks. Her casual outfit consists of an oversized light green hoodie, a plain brown t-shirt and a knee-length pink a-line skirt.

Kara's practice outfit consists of a black leotard with grey leggings. She wears a white crop top over it.

Her revue outfit comprises a light brown jacket with dark brown facing and piping, a standing collar, white turnbacks with dark brown piping red cuff flaps with golden trim, and a golden armband and epaulets over a plain white shirt worn partly untucked from her belt, which is simple brown leather with a gold-edged iron buckle. Her skirt is a brown kick-pleated skirt with a white band near the bottom, and a white tulle dress tail. Like all the other girls, she wears black boots with golden trim detailing and a tassel, as well as a red pelisse jacket with golden piping over her left shoulder, held to a red shoulder belt by a golden aiguillette and a golden button. Her weapon is a copper billhook, with an orange gem where the blade meets the haft.

Personality

Small, meek, and polite, Kara is a kind girl who finds it easy to make friends, but constantly moving from place to place as a child left her unprepared to make significant and lasting relationships.

Background

Kara: "The most beautiful stage I've seen in that theater so far... I want more of that for you... for all of us, you know?"

As a child, Kara’s family was very poor, and often moved around. Kara found it hard to make friends, until she found her calling in theater, which she found to be an excellent way to meet people with things in common with her, as well as her favourite way to express herself. This led her to want to enroll in a proper theater school, something she is only barely able to do thanks to financial support from her older sister.

Her poor performance in the Performance Festival Revues was a significant blow to her confidence, as she did not win a single match, and was prepared to resign from Seisho after giving it one last shot. However, during the second set of revues, while trapped within looping time, Tsuyuzaki Meiko showed Kara what she could do with some effort, and encouraged her to keep pushing forward. Inspired, Kara has found herself regaining her momentum and reaching new heights as Persephone.

Family

Kara's parents, Enzou and Kaera, were unprepared for their second child, and found themselves unable to support her and her passions as they had with her older sister. However, her sister Chiyomi made the most of her advantage, and now that she has the income, chose to give her younger sister the opportunties she had, leading Kara to attend Seisho Music Academy.
