Profile
Marigaan is an unusually tall beastfolk, currently living and working in the Sinking Temple. She is mute, and speaks in sign (which is well-known in Isclynn). Despite living at the monastary for many years, no one there has seen her show any signs of aging. She was once a member of the Adventurer's Guild, where she met and befriended Beyo. Her reasons for leaving the guild are unclear, but when asked, she speaks fondly of her time spent on official expeditions.
Marigaan has the Knack, an innate sensitivity and awareness of the magic of Isclynn. She doesn't cast very many spells, but she enjoys translating the melodies she hears in powerful magical sites into songs for her lyre. Interestingly, she seems to know a number of ballads that have been forgotten by nearly everyone.
In truth, Marigaan is astoundingly old- her Knack has slowed her aging considerably. As a child, she was one of the last Clayfolk to see Lyonhart before the latter's disappearance. During Lyon's unmasked rampage through Capital, they laid eyes on Mari, which should have turned her into an inert clay statue. Instead, only her eye and part of her face were turned to clay.
A gentle giant, Marigaan is a bit withdrawn, but she reveals a much goofier nature when around kids or her friends. Even then, she doesn't like to talk about herself or her past very much (except for her time in the Adventurer's Guild). She enjoys telling stories, and uses her lyre to bring forth images that enhance the tales she tells.
