Summary

Ionas Salcedo is a Professor working at the MEX-CO Enthomology Lab. He is a former member of an online group fully dedicated to collecting bugs around the world. He gets a message from his best friend, Mateo Colomer, that some weird eggs were in auction, and the rumours were that those eggs were supossed to be a strange species of Mantodea Bazyluk, a Mantis species, found in a clandestine lab near Fukushima, and those eggs would be in auction for the ones interested in a dark web page. Salcedo decides to take the risk to finally grab an interesting theme for his project, and decides to bid (with his earnings from his father's library) until he wins them. Professor Ionas Salcedo, then gets the package, carefully packed, and he takes care of the ootheca he gets. All the little creatures die, and when he almost surrendered, a tiny, single egg developed. But this strange egg grew bigger and bigger, until it was the size of Ionas. He got scared and, secretly, isolated the giant egg in a hermetic room made of glass on his MEX-CO laboratory. One day, the creature inside the egg wants to emerge, but can't, so Ionas decides to help it cutting the hard surface. A creature comes out, a monstruos yet beautiful creature. Green, with large Mantis eyes and spikes and fibers everywhere, aggressive comes out finally. Ionas, frightened, calls his colleague and best friend, Mateo Colomer, a fellow enthomologyst. They decide to put sedatives on the creature, and it sleeps until they both plan what the hell to do with it, kill it or keep it. Little Salcedo knew, this creature, would be the work of his life.

He is the discoverer and protector of the later named MANtis, becomes his life teacher after he realizes that MANtis is not only a mutagenic abnormal hybrid creature, but that he has various evolution stages, metamorphosing himself as humanoid, and have an extremely high response to logic solving and a really extraordinary memory. He then, begins to teach him science facts, about the cosmos, human anatomy... But eventually gets to teach him manners, human customs, about music, having fun, and feelings... MANtis is a curious being and when he feels the slightest sign of passional love towards Ionas, he does not hesitate on showing him his affections, pure and naive, not contaminated by the human typical superfluous concept of sexuality. MANtis adores and wants Ionas in every way now, taste him, mate with him even if they can't reproduce and most of all, to become like him to be worth of his love, but Ionas has a hard time figuring out if he has become crazy for falling in love with an experiment, or if he is truly in love with MANtis.
