Lay (Astronaut!Lay)

Profile

Astronaut Lay

Notes
-From the world of Hephaestus.
-Lay loves to learn about the cultures and biologies of the other races of the universe he inhabits, sometimes comparing one to another.
-Using listen-translator technology, Lay is able to speak three more languages then Interstellar Common, and is trying to understand more.
-Lay's spacesuit has a few useful notes to it.
--Actual classification of the suit is a Exploration-Focusing Multi-Atmospheric Suit.
--There is a limited self-repair ability to it. Namely to ensure small slashes and punctures doesn't lead to major oxygen or pressure loss.
--Automated temperature control, physical and energy-based insulation, and a mixture of oxygen filters. All of these combined allows for a wide range of environments to be safely approached, including incredibly hot, cold, or specifically dangerous locations.
--The combined systems of oxygen tanks and COrecycling systems allow for Lay to go into airless environments for roughly several hours (Depending on his respiration rate) before being placed into an induced state of unconsciousness.

The Rekindled Star (His Ship)

Description
A cargo-hauling vessel, The Rekindled Star has become a personal home for the Astronaut Lay when travelling across the stars

The ship itself is a modified Immutabilis Mk.34 Light Freighter, produced by Diomedea Hauling Solutions. The design itself solved a multitude of design complaints from the different designs involved with the Immutabilis series from the Mk.21 to the Mk.33, including, but not limited to: Lack of defensive armament, lack of cargo space, lack of landing options, lack of crew complements, excessive defensive armament, lack of communication options, and many more. Thanks to a near perfect balancing to fix most of these issues, as well as some adding other useful features, the Mk.34 has found it's way to be a popular choice for most independent haulers, regardless of legal standing, newer models, or competing ship manufacturers.

As the captain, Lay's modifications have allowed it to focus anywhere from long-term explorations of worlds to various assignments of delivering important supplies.

External / Performance Notes
-Able to land on land and sea.
-Two major areas; Living Quarters, and Cargo Storage
-Armament
--4 Automated Defensive Turrets that can be operated by crew (Nose, Forwards Dorsal, Rear Ventral, and Tail), each turret has 4 machine guns.
--6 Nose-Mounted Autocannons operated by pilot.
--2 Missile Launchers, roughly 11+1 shots each before the magazine is depleted. Multiple variants of 200mm missiles can be used, but Lay usually using Laser-Guided Anti-Armour. There is a laser guidance system mounted on Nose turret to allow for additional control.
-Equipment
--Planetary Scan Modules, to collect geological, geographical, and meteorological data, takes between 2.5 hours to 24 hours to complete, depending on variables such as the scan size and the planet's complexities.
--Automation Modules, a number of basic-level AI plus an Overseer-level AI has meant that a good majority of Lay's ship is automated, considerably handy when you consider that he is frequently the only intelligent things on the vessel.

Living Quarters
-Three bed room areas
--The first that has been converted to a captain's room, with an extra comfortable bed, additional crew storage, larger wardrobe, and some other accessories.
--The second has been converted into a formal research room, complete with all the tools for an on-the-move documentation of artefacts or various forms of Xenobiology.
--And the last, honestly, hasn't changed much and is used as a sort of spare storage room, still having two sets of the original bunk beds (Though bedding is notably comfortable), wardrobes and basic crew storage.
-It's interesting to note that the rooms themselves have been some-what painted, though namely the captain's quarters or areas he moves through more commonly.
-Kitchen that has all basic and additional requirements, along with a deep compression fridge, allowing for months worth of food to be stored with minimal difficulty.

Cargo Storage
-This area takes up around three quarters of the internal space of the ship.
-Two cargo ramps (Smaller front one and larger backwards one), Both have water-proof covers on the sides to allow careful opening.
-There is also a cargo lift to the top of the ship, intended for machinery such as cranes to move cargo easier, but Lay uses it as a way to get sunlight while on planets.
-There is a magnetic towline on the top of the cargo hanger that was intended for pulling heavier cargo, such as vehicles, into said hanger, but it can also be used to help lift items already in the hanger.
