Manto is Phobo's teammate and best friend. Their job is to deliever bombs into the Zone. While Phobo is the one to navigate and carry the explosives, Manto serves as his guardian and fights off anything that attacks them. She is also the one to carry Phobo's remains back to humans whenever he gets blown up by the explosives or is ripped apart by one of the many monsters in the Zone.

Unlike Phobo, Manto is just a regular mortal dog (with a sword!). In humans' eyes, she is seen as a "lesser anti-zone dog", and is more easily replacable than her cyborg companion. Although humans don't put much value on her life, she's gained some recognition by being one of the only guard dogs to survive over a year in the Zone. Typically, guard dogs aren't expected to live more than a few weeks after entering the Zone.

Manto is the no-nonesense, strong and silent type. She won't engage in any type of smalltalk, which makes her come across as distant and rude to some. She is a ruthless fighter when needed, but prefers to avoid any unnecessary risks.

Although cold and elusive on the outside, deep down Manto is a caring, selfless person. She often feels more or less responsible for other working animals in the Zone. She wouldn't admit it, but witnessing countless deaths of her colleagues has affected her mental health greatly.
