Finch hails from the Medina family in Saltmarsh, a large family who are often known for working with the local church as well as helping other residents. Finch was created out of his parents wanting a third child but feared the "close call" they had with Robin "almost" being stolen away by Changelings. While Finch's side of the family loves and tends to be overprotective of him, his grandmother tends to look down upon him for not meeting her high expectations, unlike Robin and Phoenix.


Robin is the most protective of Finch, mainly due to an incident where Finch was severely damaged due to an incident between the two. They often keep this incident under wraps and the only other individuals who know of this incident is their older sister Phoenix.
