Backstory

Estelle's parents met through work, they were both journalists working for the New York Post. Her father Charles was born and raised in England, he left the UK as he didn't want to be a farmer like his family before him. Her mother, Laura, came from a well off family, going to an Ivy League College and graduating with the highest honours. They met through work. Her mother was a hard hitting Investigative journalist while her father covered the sports section of the paper. They formed a close bond and fell in love within a few months of dating

A few years after her parents were wed, Laura gave birth to a healthy baby girl and named her Estelle. The named her this because while Laura was pregnant, she and Charles spend evenings together, watching the stars and talking about their daughter, hence the celestial name. They adored their little girl and babied her, even after her brother was born. She had a comfortable and good upbringing, being just as clever as her parents before her.

However, under the surface, Estelle had much deeper issues which she rarely ever discloses to anyone. She always felt like she wasn't good enough and that she would always be in the shadow of her parents' successes. Throughout high school she put an immense amount of pressure on herself to be the best, with her self worth often coming from the grades on a report card more than anything else. She ended up with excellent grades but at the expense of her own mental health, as she became over worked, ill and riddled with anxieties.

When she graduated she went to study at Oxford in England, in hopes of breaking out of her parents shadow and becoming someone other than just their daughter. After finishing her law degree she moved back to America and became a district attorney in hopes of helping people but she also knew that deep down she picked the job because it would bring her some sort of self-satisfaction. 

She dated a few people here and there, but never settled down as her exes always claim she is too married to her job to ever be successful in love. Which, in all fairness, is partly true. One relationship messed her up though. This was with a guy Seth Browning. He too had some issues, more to do with trauma than self-doubt. This shared hurting brought the both of them together. They had a really messy relationship, with Estelle being loyal and loving while Seth was controlling and unfaithful. Estelle however thought she was able to make him a better person, so she stuck around longer than she should have. She found out that he'd cheated on her with two people and they had a big fight, one which involved Estelle getting badly injured. Seth never meant to hurt her physically and felt awful for what he did (threw a vase in her direction, with glass getting stuck in her leg) but when he tried to help her, she just screamed and screamed until he left. Since then, she hasn't been able to find love because she's always scared she'll end up with another Seth.
