haha yes thats very intentional - the first major section of the game would be structured to make the player feel like theyre in charge of a side character in a lot of ways, so they cant look quite as rpgcore as the rest of the cast.. plus it makes them stand out a bit in a lineup while also fading into the background a bit in crowd shots (much like one might expect from someone who can just be skimmed over as 'staff') which is fun
(i also like to imagine thered be a whole opening cinematic with the 'heroes' preparing to face off against some terrible thing and then the moment you get to actually start playing, perspective just pops to the guy mopping in the back lmfao)
